General Naturism Discussion / Re: Naturist links
« on: April 28, 2016, 09:17:15 PM »
I'm sure the people who run Tumblr would deny that their site is intended for large-scale violation of copyright, but of course that's what the users fill it with.

This is one of the things that really annoys me about these galleries. None of them create their own content, they just rip off other people's. When I hear that one of our photos is on a tumblr site I always have it removed.

Suggestions and announcements / Re: Google Earth .KMZ files
« on: February 07, 2016, 06:24:58 PM »
For my latest posting on the Free Range Naturism I have achived on my Fuerteventura holiday I used Google Earth to record my route and mileage.
However, not being able to attach the 6Kb .KMZ file I have had to resort to attaching a rather unsatisfactory and potentially copyright infringing screen dump.

It had occurred to me that attaching .KMZ files to free range trip reports and similar postings could greatly enhance our appreciation - especially when it involves parts of the world with which we are not familiar.

Would it be too much to have this small enhancement to the forum?

Done! Let me know if you have any problems.

Now, to outfit Stuart? ;)

I'll go with this look:

Free Range Naturism / Re: Things that try eating you when out and about

I've never had a tick and hope that continues but noticed as I did a walk today that there were sheep and cattle so danger of ticks.

It made me realise that I'm a complete novice where ticks are concerned.  If you get a tick and spot it straight away, can you deal with it whilst out and about or do you have to wait until you are home and can tweeze it.  I've read that tweezers shouldn't be used.  How do you remove them?

John
They do burn off, but setting ones public region ablaze is a mistake.
Jbee

Remove them with tweezers. Do not burn them or put anything like alcohol or oil on them as this increases the chance of infection.

As a few people have asked about it, I've posted a blog about my experience with Lyme Disease:

The offer mentioned by JOhn in his 1st post on this topic still holds for me.

Duane

We've had no problems with bandwidth so far. We have a pretty high allowance and with the site being quite picture heavy the largely text based forum barely makes a dent on it. So while the offer is appreciated, it's unnecessary for now.

Where do you find all this?

Is there a website for this stuff?

Yeah a colleague at work was going through all the easter eggs listed on a website. This was back in 1999 though but I am sure that there are still plenty of easter eggs out there.

A famous one is typing "do a barrel roll" into Google.

What is the difference between a nudist and a naturist?  :) ;)

I've blogged on this exact subject - http://freerangenaturism.com/blog/?p=96

Suggestions and announcements / Re: The Old site
« on: July 02, 2015, 10:51:44 AM »
I am sure we can survive on this site but a big attraction of the old site was the ability to post photos. They add so much more to reports, especially ones like jbee used to post. I wonder if the increase in traffic on this forum is causing any bandwidth problems for Stuart and Karla.

Tony

None so far. We're not anticipating problems anytime soon either, we have a lot of bandwidth and our main site is quite picture intense anyway.

Yay! My wife's bare bum has appeared on the BBC news website. Another tick off the bucket list.

I'll ping everyone for whom I have an address (about a dozen, some of whom have not been active at TSNS for a while), so long as Carla and Stuart don't mind.

The more the merrier!

Trip reports / Re: A walk in the desert!
« on: June 25, 2015, 01:10:41 PM »
Great report! I love encountering large animals on hikes, the deer in the highlands of Scotland are especially impressive when you get up close to them. They're usually quite friendly, but you always have to be careful!

I have some pictures, but Karla said it would work better if we post them elsewhere and then create a link. I don't have an account with any of those sites so maybe I'll take a look at that later.

No account needed at http://tinypic.com/. Just upload and post the link they give you.

Free Range Naturism / Re: What's the difference?
« on: June 22, 2015, 07:32:53 PM »
It occurs to me that the big difference between secret naturism and the free range variety is the culture it takes place in. In Germany for example there's no need for it. People sunbathe naked in the parks, and many lakes have a designated zone for FKK so when we've gone hiking nude in the Alps no one has really bothered.

But in Scotland, where Steve Gough has been jailed for years, we have to be a lot more careful.

Free Range Naturism / Re: Naked At Home -- Guests and Visitors.
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:18:10 PM »
I rarely get naked at home. Not unless it's really hot and humid and it's more comfortable to be naked. Nudity at home is only done for comfort. I'm actually extremely sensitive to stimuli, tactile, auditory, smell etc. I prefer being naked outdoors because it feels more natural. It doesn't feel more natural indoors because it's not a natural environment. Also, when naked indoors though I am just more aware of having to sit on a towel or whatever I find it more distracting. So if someone was to knock on the door I would put on a dressing gown.

I just don't know what it is about feeling the grass under my feet. Even when waiting at a bus stop I will prefer to stand on the grass. I was put off jogging for long because the thought of running on tarmac was really off putting but I've started occasionally jogging around the local park where I can stay on the grass.

That said, when we lived in Munich we would routinely be naked indoors because of the heat, probably for about six months of the year. I would cover up to answer the door, but then I'm from a part of the world where they locked Steve Gough up for years for being naked, so a certain trepidation about being naked in front of others when I don't know they're okay with it is built into my cultural psyche.

Stuart I have a question for you. I joined and uploaded some pictures from this spring to tinypic. How do I get them from there to the forum here? I have done some to other places but for the life of me can not remember how I did it.

Tinypic should give you a list of links, one of which (the second one if memory serves) is inside tags so it looks like this - [ i m g ] http://image url goes here [ / i m g ] . Just copy and paste that into the text of your post and it'll display the photo (remove spaces to get it to work).
