General Naturism Discussion / Re: Naturist Reading and Books

Yes, thanks for the review. I resonate with much of what you and Neil M-S observe/report in the experience. In the way discussed in recent "Bible Project" podcasts, the liminal places are temporo-physical locations where sky (heaven) and land (earth) meet and the Creator's kingdom (neither future nor past, but eternally present) manifests. One does not have words to record such experiences or the depth of connectedness between self/ego and context/other inherent in them.

Perhaps I am a bit of a wimp, but my feet, usually bare, are not yet ready for 10k with the dogs in the mornings (maybe I'm still asleep?). At any rate, I use sock-shoes for the morning hike and am barefoot when allowed (even at work--where I have a very understanding boss). I am happy and looking forward to reading the hiking experiences of others--I have not journalled the experience myself.

I'm very new in naturist practices, and I have read voraciously over the past 5 months or so on the topic. One book I finished recently offered a very interesting perspective, The Naked Hermit by Neil Mayhew-Smith. He discusses naturist practices as they relate specifically to Celtic monastic disciplines. The book follows topical observations, place, water, mountains, and so forth, in a very engaging way (IMHO).

Free Range Naturism / Re: Public nudity in Western Canada
« on: August 08, 2024, 07:55:08 PM »
The law in Canada prohibits nudity in public view, but I have been reliably informed by RCMP in the area that when people are merely hiking or otherwise active in an area well away from others, charges are unlikely to be laid when the intent of nudity cannot be proved to be motivated sexually.

I look forward to the day when this tolerance actually results in revision of the national Criminal Code (Section 174) where nudity in view of the public is held to be illegal. Not only that, I also look forward to the time when nudity is considered both natural and normal for those who choose the life.

Thank you all for this discussion (and encouragement).

I am a very new naturist, getting used to life as much without clothes as I can. I enjoy early morning (dawn) hikes on trails near my home with my two dogs. I am getting used to the morning chill--having hiked pretty much daily since early April with less and less clothing as the weather has risen above freezing. The wind, sun, and even rain (and one time, snow) on my skin is a delicious experience. The connection to the forest around me is what I feel most.

My experiences nude have been solitary to the present, but I look forward to social, non-sexual activities and meetings in future. Thanks for reading, Barefoot.
