General Naturism Discussion / Re: Nudity as Carnival

I was in the presence of one of Prince Philip's witticisms once back in the 1970s!
I was in a small crowd that had gathered in a private location that was hosting lunch for some event that the Queen and Prince Philip were attending.  The royal party and retinue of 20 or 30 people approached down a long gravel path with around 50-100 observers lined behind a rope barrier about 10 or 20 yards separated.  The gentleman standing next to me with his family was taking pictures with an SLR camera with a telephoto lens. Suddenly the prince veered off from the procession and bounded over to the photographer.  "Good morning," said the Duke to the man, "you must be an American.  Are you?"
"Why yes," said the man, completely nonplussed by this piece of royal clairvoyance "How ever did you know that, your royal highness?" he asked evidently quite overawed by the Prince's erudition.
"Oh, it was easy," said Philip, "I could tell by the size of your camera!"  and after a short stunned silence all in the vicinity laughed politely in response to this leaden joke.
There followed actually a short conversation between the two men about f. stops and focal lengths which indicated that the royal had a fair knowledge of photography.  This interruption to the progress to lunch had stopped the royal party including the Queen and after a minute or two she also broke off from the procession and took a few steps towards us and in a distinctly irritated 'stage whisper' voice hissed at her husband "Philip!  Do come on. You are keeping everyone waiting!"   The Prince instantly complied apologising briefly to his interlocutor for the curtailment of their discussion as he turned and disappeared with her majesty through an archway!

That's nice, your curiosity has flushed out a few more UK folks that don't usually comment FishNC! (although Peter S does but he's been a bit quiet lately!! :D)
Jbee and me are always contributing and he is the anchor and stalwart of this ongoing conversation.

Yeah lol let’s see if we can get more but not just UK members.

Well not set up for an age group, it surely has bonded with a generally over 40 group, somehow. Welcome aboard Boris. We'll have some fun.

Because the under 40s are on IYNO.

Gloucestershire here. It can sometimes seem that this is JB’s sounding box, he does seem to be the most prolific poster we have. But this began as a uk-based forum and is still that, even if UK members aren’t the chattiest.

Ah I didn’t know that and no problem with JB posting lol.

The gay lib movement pretty much started with a riot in response to police intolerance and betrayal of equal justice. I'm imagining a similar nude riot. HA!  :D

It would be fun if the WNBR took a turn toward the front of Parliament.

Actually a group did something similar a bit less that 10 years ago. It wasn’t a nude protest but the government went on a strange censorship spree banning things like face sitting kinks. A bunch of kinksters gathered outside parliament sitting on each other’s faces

DF is Desert Flower, my girlfriend.

Speaking of reading instead of hearing voices, we have had to translate our my mutual language language here more than once. No problem. It is just learning... then, there is Nuduke, who has had us on both sides of that pond pursuing the dictionary more than a few times. ;)

Do you smoke?

What's "Met"?

I thought that nudity had been codified and police educated to the law in the UK and Scotland got that, too. NAked walks in et countryside are safe. Have urbanites been getting harassed with no change in the behavior of the authorities?

The police in the UK are divided into individual regions. Metropolitan Police, or ‘Met’ are the force that serve Greater London, excluding City of London. Apologies for going off topic

There used to be a larger "posting" contingent from UK, but they have been less frequent the last year or two. I'm pleased to read your UK voices.

DF has retired, so I'm working on getting her to fill in some of her new extra time, by adding a female presence every so often.

Who’s DF? I’m glad you enjoy reading our voices because if you heard mine you’d not be able to understand me 😂

yes indeed - more new joiners.  Great!  What's been posted on IYNO that brought you here?  What's IYNO (see previous post with same question :D)

It was a discussion about age limits and a reminder that this site was set up for old farts while IYNO is for under 40s

I once tried to join a club that would only let me in as a single man with a letter from my wife (who doesn't participate in naturism) telling them she doesn't mind and gives me permission to join.  When I enquired what possible function that served they replied it indemnified them against being involved in divorce cases where one spouse cites the other's naturism as a ground of divorce.
Mad, mad, mad world.

Hmm it is mad but can understand why a club would want to take that step

Hmm… I think we need a recruitment drive  ;D

Any place that allows only couples and single women suggest to me that they are not serious about naturism.

We had a legally married female couple visit us in august who complained about another club who also don’t take singles, men or women. They wouldn’t accept them as a couple despite being married and living together.

Her feelings of outrage about nudity restrictions was always appropriate: her tactics made awareness, circus, and often gave the movement toward body freedom a less desirable image, I suppose. All good and bad.

She is odd to most, but in Berkley, she fits in. I don't know about psycho, but she sure has radical opinions and solutions to her angst and sense of proper social behavior. We need some psychos, sometimes. We need uppity people to be uppity. We don't have to like them. She got out and did what she thought might work, she follows passions, and is true to her personal beliefs. I've got to hand her that.

The last I heard of her, she was in Mexico, helping drug addicts with unusual methods that were illegal here, and probably there. I see that she is back and making trouble for herself without a cause this time. I could imagine the exasperation that she gives her attorney!!! ;D

I suspect the attorney just sees dollar signs 🤣

An article in the Guardian in 2019 asks if naturism is dying out in Germany. Article says that although some groups have reported a rise in membership, the practice is declining with nudity being pushed aside and FKK dying due to a “nudity taboo” with people being more reluctant to take part. I was wondering if any of our German members could tell us more about this?
