De Anza: Body Paint and Spiritual Action
« on: December 08, 2017, 06:55:44 AM »
We take off across the open spaces of the western Arizona desert. We participate in a Body painting contest at De Anza Resort. We get deeply into that strange and other worldly certain something that the De Anza desert provides.

Excellent writing JB.  You hit the nail on the desert energy head.  The remote stops and the energy in rock formations and desert fauna.  The earlier ones too and their spirits.  It is all out there.  Your last paragraph reminded me of Emerson and his quote something like "In the woods we return to reason and faith." I always do and it is the same yet a different energy around De Anza Springs. I was out there a couple of weeks ago and am going in a few days as well.  The Cholla have that weird glow now in the afternoon sun. Makes the place seem surreal.

Your report rings a lot of bells and has set off many thoughts of my own memories and experiences. The spirits thrive there and there is much love in those entities.
If you really want to get this De Anza energy ball rolling on this thread read about William Reich and his Bion experiments and orgone enregy in the 30's.  All kind of Buckaroo Banzai yet he believed I think that everything has some form of life energy. He was a contemporary of Freud. Those using his machine had to be nude too.   He spent some time I think just before his arrest in Jacumba and felt there was a special energy.  Very Bukcaroo and Mars invasion stuff yet serious as well.  I think he was onto something and sixty years later a clothing optional resort opens there. I see some continuity over and around the illusion of time in that place.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the man.
Thanks again for the report and I have the spirits with me as well on my nude hikes there too.
Jim.

I didn't know that he had been so persecuted. I suppose that it had to do partly with the anti-communist activity of that time. I've only glanced over his stuff. It seemed to be what I was looking to know in my own way; I didn't want another's interpretation at the time. Schwartz is doing some neet stuff at the U of A, these days. I'm sure to read more on it, one of these days. There are more recent translations that I spotted last night, that look interesting.

I wrote my thesis on Transpersonal energies. It is tough to go up against all of the opposition and academia with so little resource and a world filled with flakey interpretations. Sometimes, it is like sitting watching a sunset and a blind man stops by, sits down and tells you that it doesn't exist in a manner of ridicule.

It feels good to get a positive response such as yours. The desert naked, especially spots like De Anza, opens the world into something more, it can fracture the common sense of reality. Can't blame a blindman for being blind. We're all here in our own way.

A marvelous telling. Too often I find that my hikes involve a need to keep moving, in order to reach the goal within the allotted time. How precious to take the time to experience the place you are, without concern to reach the next place. Thank you.

Wilhelm Reich went to jail for selling a useless "orgone box", but I looked him up on Wikipedia, and apparently he made one sale to a happy customer. The man's wife would quietly sit in the box for hours, and the man was delighted.

At the time of his arrest, he was getting academic ridicule. It was 1955,1956 and he had been advocating a more "communist" lifestyle. I'd bet that that didn't favor uppity him in court. He got a prety heavy sentence for perceived snake oil. One of these days, I'm sure to dig deeper into this.
