Looking Mainstream in Media
« on: April 02, 2020, 09:16:29 PM »
I saw this. It is a fun cartoon and so very true. It portrays naturists as just another lifestyle in the woods, all healthy and wholesome. It does say that we keep to ourselves, not a perfect world, yet, but coming along.

Those are hilarious. Some of them post videos of wild camping on YouTube. Some seem to spend six months out of the year camping (usually the retired RV crowd). They all patronize blogs that romanticize their particular interests. A similar lists of types could be about people who rent summer cottages. Hint: never go on a vacation with an organizer, unless it's a Boy Scout Webelos camp. Next time you're at the beach, see how many types you can spot. There may be more. And if videos are anything to go by, it only rains on the reluctant camper, while it always snows on the woodsman.

Okay, we need something a little less serious. Here are a couple of links to camping videos: bushcraft, woodcraft, camp craft:

Most of the one's I've view are from somewhere up North, both in North America and Europe. This one's pretty good, unusual in that it's not narrated:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkJehypGNLE .

I haven't viewed any made in a desert but I expect they're out there.

This one is a little different and you'll see why right away. Unfortunately, it's not in English:

This one is about camping of a more serious nature. For some reason, I find it both fascinating and even comforting to watch and I probably view it once a week:

That's probably enough for a few minutes' diversion.

Yes, after viewing those, I reaffirm that I am a naturist and my first rule is to camp where the weather suits my clothes, which I left at home or in my pack, I have something that is just enough to cope with a rain shower, or a warm shelter and soft bed.

There is weather to get around, laws to follow, boundaries to stretch, but stay nude, breath in nature each day.

My net tent and quilt were first, or once, tested in the Arctic, but sure as heck, not by me. They are just notes to apply to a chilly evening in the mountains in summer. I take two layers of underwear, silk and hightech, a long sleeve t shirt and a heavy duty down jacket and hit the fire or the bedding after that. Freezing is not a good time camping. Maybe liquored up....

I've bought a canvass four meter bell tent and have a G.I. stove that issues 60,000 BTU, if it gets slightly chilly and humid. The truck is next to that. I'm staying naked, warm, dry, if I have to wait for the sun.

I'm still backpacking, stealth camping, etc.

So, I'm many of these campers and a hybrid, and a combo, but first, a naturist. FRN, not pigeonholed by a label, only the weather and terrain on a given day.

I'm not sure what I am first. At any rate, it changes. Probably won't ever have an RV or travel trailer and probably won't have another 4x4. I think I've mentioned that back when I had a four by four, which was a 1965 Land-Rover (a 'real' Land-Rover), I never thought of myself as a four-wheeler until someone introduced me as one. In truth, I was much more of a four-wheeler than anyone else in town with a 4x4. And even though I've mentioned how I started nude hiking when I was still in high school, I did very little nude anything when I had the Land-Rover and no camping at all. But I remember the summers as being really short back then. Besides, I did plenty of long-term camping in the army, plus a little four-wheeling.
