Summer Solstice Hike 2021
« on: February 03, 2021, 11:25:33 PM »
The Vermont Summer Solstice Hike has been a fun thing that DF and I have heard about for years, now. There's a few of us, here on this forum, that have participated. DF and I plan to add ourselves to that list this year. I'd like to see it successful, which I'd figure would mean plenty of participants and fun. I'm hoping that this thread will help the success along.

Solistice happens on Monday, the 21st of June this year. We'll be somewhere in Vermont with that group. As things move along, I would suppose that others will be getting together Solstice hiking all over the world. These things can ALL be reported here. This is one thread where topic drift would become a negative.

Hey JB I have done that hike several times. One year we had almost 20 in the group. We actually broke down to two groups to shorten the chain of hikers on the trail. Last year their were less than a dozen that participated in the hike. The hike is normally on a section of the Appalachian trail, but last year hit was done on a trail along Somerset reservoir. I will be doing the traditional hike along the Florida trail as I am now in Florida. As for the date of the hike my calendar and a google search show the Solstice is on the 20th. Happy trails.

Uh oh...We were thinking June 21st. The moment is around 8:30pm in Tucson and 11:30 something ETD for some reason. Looks like my ship sprung a leak. DF's school reunion is Saturday the 19th in Buffalo and can't be missed. Crash! Run aground, disappointments.

On well, we'll still explore Vermont.

We'd be traveling across New York on the 20th. Maybe we could pick up on a piece of the 10 mile hike, or the pond. It is supposed to be 5 or 6 hours drive...Jbee writes as he thinks....

In the topsy turvy world of covid-19 things often change and by golly they did again. We had a conflict with DF's school reunion on the 19th in Buffalo. It was cancelled, until further notice! Looks like we will be able to meet the Vermont foray in a timely manner, after all!
