Humbug Spires, Montana

Fifty miles south of Butte and about 25 miles north of Dillon, Montana, is a  little know state park known as the Humbug Spires. The Humbug Spires are part of the Boulder Batholith. The Boulder Batholith is a massive granite island that rose from the earth. Much of the famed metal wealth of gold, silver, and copper mining in Butte is a product of this geologic feature. The towering rock has a rise of 300 to 600 feet. Much of it has eroded into boulders and spires. There is only one established trail. It is best not used by nude hikers. Instead, parking along the only dirt road and picking a hiking direction is easy.  Keep in mind this is the home of mountain lions and black bears. While I have not seen any rattlesnakes, I am sure they are around. I have spent days hiking and drawing in the area netless without ever meeting another soul.

This is the place for those who like something that can be challenging and inspiring.

To get to it, take I-15 to exit 99 Moose Creek and head east and north until you enter the park. There isn't any staff. If you are a user of OnX, it will aid you in staying in the park and on BLM and forest land. The park has no identifiable boundaries.

Not that I get to Montana often, or even have a visit planned, but I attempted to explore by Google Mbps. No sign of anything by this name, except a study area in Butte.

Is there another name? It all seems to be National Forest, or BLM.

Just type in humbug spires MT. Here is a link  https://www.blm.gov/visit/humbug-spires-wsa. Like I said it is little known. That is great for nude hikers.
