Obviously the economics work differently for you than for us. Since the government subsidies fell away the installations have been going into solar farms much more, though you can still see them being added to places like farms, which have large areas of barn roofs and the sort of electricity usage which makes it attractive for them. Businesses and local counils with large roof spaces also get them for greenwashing.

Farms to me mean power companies meddling with government policy to keep control of energy to profit stockholders.

Do you have anything like an elected corporation commission to handle monopolies? They help the situation somewhat here. Still, big bucks pay for the elections and those bucks are hidden by the two parties that control the candidates.

In UK we now have the Competition and Markets Authority, which can be effective but is often rather toothless.

One of its forerunners was simply called the Monopolies Commission, which led one comedian to ask "Why is there only one Monopolies Commission"?

Yes.  Having only one Monopoly Commission would be silly .
