You all appear fit, brown and happy. What a wonderful day!

I see that your friend is protecting himself the errant affectionate tongue, or exploratory sniff, while petting the dogs. I know that feeling. ;D

You seem to do lots of hiking on the top of ridge-lines and the trails to get there. I suppose that walking amongst the amazing views is some of that choice. Do you often have water sources in your local terrain, or carry that weight? Would there be a trail to walk along a pleasant creek? Are there streams or waterfalls intersecting the trails on any of the hikes?

I'm curious about the winds up there. Do you encounter chill factors at times?

To answer all these questions: I hike in several mountain ranges with very different characteristics. Here, in the southern Vercors, there are no streams and no real springs. The Belledonne massif, on the other hand, is well watered by torrents, with some high-altitude lakes. These are mountains with very different vegetation and geological structures... offering a wide variety of walking and viewing pleasures!

I've only passed through the Alps three times when I was 10 to 13 years young. All three times there was rain and cloud cover. I unfortunately saw only twenty minutes of snow caped mountains in the cumulative five or six days.  Because of age and weather and probably being more interested in passing Ferraris, as I sat looking out of the back seat of my parent's car, I didn't look upon those mountains between Italy and France as a potential naturist hiking mecca, which is the impression that you have made upon me.

So, are there any problems with cold winds during the warmer seasons?
While I'm asking questions, is there much wilderness backpacking?

And all stunningly beautiful scenery!
