During our recent backpack trip on Mt. Lemon, we were sad to see a huge specimen of an edible shroom sitting on the ground, knocked off of a tree, wasted. Nothing was left on the tree for it to grow back. Same person who did many other wrong things to the campsite, like playing with an axe and wasting small trees, cutting off bark, etc., creating a marked trail to the spot and more. I spent some time undoing his damage. Some folks just don't get it.
I wish I knew more about harvesting. We have often found many species. On the other hand, the more we take the more effort for them to recover. The environment places for them is limited. Very good stuff for health and microbiome. Oh just got an idea for a thread!....
