Hi folks
« on: August 15, 2013, 06:52:22 PM »
Hello....I thought I'd start the ball rolling here and introduce myself. Somebody has to be first, but please don't leave me all alone in here for too long!

I'm lucky enough to live in the Scottish Highlands where I'm surrounded by opportunities for free-range naturism. While Scotland's got itself a bad reputation for intolerance through it's treatment of Stephen Gough, the amount of space up here is vast and it's really not hard to find places to enjoy a wild naked day undisturbed. For the stattos some data to back that up - the Highlands extends to about one sixth of the land area of mainland Britain, with a population of only 220,000. It's the most sparsely populated part of the UK with an average of 8 people per square Km and with the concentration of most of the population around the east coast that leaves an awful lot of empty space! OK, we get a few tourists too, but there's still a huge amount of emptiness here. Not convinced? Well, just look at the reports of Stuart & Karla's visits to the Highlands.

I love walking the hills and moors, swimming the lochs and rivers and laying on the huge, empty and beautifully sandy beaches naked.

Welcome to the forum George! It's good to see someone from the highlands of Scotland here, we still miss them. And thanks for making the first post. I know that most people don't like to be the first person to post. We also have Richard from naktiv.net on this forum so hopefully now we have enough people to get some conversation going.

Welcome George! Good to see another Scotsman here, especially one who loves the highlands as much as I do. What are your favourite areas? I love the northwest, up past Ullapool as well as the Outer Hebrides, especially Harris. Britain's last great wilderness is up there, and its beautiful.

Thanks Stuart. I feel like a Scot but I have to admit having moved up here from south of the border some years ago. We're of the same mind about the northwest highlands and the Isle of Harris. Were it not for the need to commute to Inverness for work, I'd probably be living somewhere on the coast north of Ullapool.

I find the Assynt landscape absolutely captivating and the hills of Harris are a truly wild place. In fact, I love the islands in general. I was lucky enough to spend a week camping on Mingulay with a few few friends a couple of years ago. Apart from a yacht which visited one day, we had the island to ourselves. No mobile phone signal, no power, and only the chartered boat returning at the end of the week to pick us up. It was so good to be off the grid for a while!

My head's now filling up with all my other favourite places in the Highlands & Islands .... just too many to list! You can probably guess that I love it here  ;D

Curiously, my thumbnail pic was taken in the busiest mountain area in Europe (possibly!), the Lake District.....standing on the shore of Coniston Water on a lovely misty morning.

Okay, I’m Jbeegoode. My girlfriend and I live in Tucson, Arizona. The sun shines 300 day each year, a totally overcast day is rare. We contend with difficulties of extreme seasonal heat, and not your difficulties of colder regions and winters. We do have local mountain areas over 9000 ft., with trees and maybe 35 degrees F lower on average to frequent nude.

I started out freerange as a teenager, got stuck on the reservation for a while when raising children and now am becoming more and more liberated. I just don’t wear clothes, but when socially necessary. I might make any place a part of my free range. My girlfriend has become radically nude since meeting me, six or seven years ago.

We use 4x4 to get to remote areas all over Arizona, to hike, camp, photograph, explore and know the many spiritual aspects attached to naturism.

Barefoot all over, all over.

Welcome!

300 days of sunshine a year! That's so not Scotland! I can appreciate what you are referring to though about extreme heat. I personally find strenuous exercise very difficult in such conditions, far more than when it's the other extreme.

It sounds like free range naturism appeals calls out to something deep within you. I sometimes feel that in a way it can feel like finding out who you are. I know exactly what you mean about feeling more liberated.

Responding to your intro.  Sounds like you have it all. Where I hike i too often encounter texties. Yesterday was one of those days. There i was taking a panaromic photo from the peak of a hill, when a cyclist approched from the corner of my view peace. I heard a small laugh when I looked up. I only had my hat and books on.  I saw him later that day and had a few words and he never made mention. So that was Ok with me. Do you where a kilt? I had to ask.
I do sometimes. Have a great nude day.

Yes, I do wear a kilt - of course, I'll be wearing one this weekend to celebrate Burns Night. Prompted by Karla's search for a cover-up while out walking, I'll be looking out this year for a lightweight, inexpensive kilt to cover up with when I bump into textiles out walking. It's only happened to me once, when I was walking in mid-Wales a couple of years ago, and this was a cyclist too. He wasn't bothered - we chatted for a while and he made no reference to my state of dress, but I do worry about causing offence and carry shorts just in case. A lightweight kilt would feel much better though.
