When it gets cold, I have a thick terry robe that I put on when needed. It has been hanging behind the door of the bathroom since last February, but the day will come. I'll have to check it for spiders and dust off the shoulders. It'll need an annual wash. I wear it other than to the store.
The robe thing is big with monks and Mongolian peoples. I discovered that all around use as my first persona in the Society for Creative Anachronisms. The fat sleeves, like this ensemble can be used like a muff, there is no need for any other clothing, the waist is adjustable for exacting comfort. The basic has been a popular fashion and practical in countless societies throughout history, worldwide, for example, Japan, China, Medieval Europe, Greece, african... hmm, about everywhere. It would be nice if this kind of garb would become fashion again in colder weather, along with acceptance of nude in warmer months and climes...like the good old days, practical and comfortable.
As Bob's setup demonstrates with the pull over, it can be decorated as festive and attractive and more.
Panchos work well too.
