Here in Arizona, the legislature is actually banning books. High schools must not use any books which are offensive to race. The presented idea was that it ends racism. What its true intent is, is to take any criticism or negative history of the white dominate culture out of the schools. One of the first banned books was Howard Zinn's, "A Peoples History of the United States!" The labor movement, the sweat shops, the forty hour week, the poor white man's struggles, anti trust, and much more are included in books mentioning genocide of native Americans, slavery issues and racism. All of it gets thrown out with the mention of conquistadors murdering and enslaving Native Americans or abuse of slave owners. When I taught Social Studies, that book was one of my best teaching aides to balance the approved text's shortcomings and enrich the thought provocation of the class. The other intent is to demolish the Chicano studies, a very successful model, which created pride and encouraged brown youth in wonderful ways. This book-burning mentality is a continuing part of power structures. Information, truth and free informed thinking are dangerous. Criticizing white capitalist abuses is dangerous to an oligarchy and those ignorant enough to believe the stories that they wish the masses to believe.

Off of the rant and back into nudity, that streaker was out to upstage, hijack, an honored custom, the Olympic Torch bearer. Perhaps this is the issue that angered the pigs that abused him. I was ticked off at the terrorists at the Olympics and the boycotting of them for political reasons. It is an activity to peacefully come together as humanity, forgetting the wars and conflicts. I could feel ticked off about the streakers actions, even though he and others should be standing nude in the crowd and nude "gymn"ast run down the street bearing a torch. Was he making a statement of nudity, or just an inconsiderate showoff?  There were kids in the crowd. Watching the film, DF pointed out that a mother put her hands over her daughter's eyes as that same mother laughed at the sight.

At the 46th Annual Academy Awards in 1974 a streaker ran across the stage behind David Niven during one of the presentations. In this clip you get to see a great handling of that infamous streaker at the Oscars in a humorous manner.

Why can’t people just see a stunt like that for what it is? Why can’t parents allow the kids to watch then sit them down and have a good laugh?

Do you have any idea the planning that went into his little sprint. You just don’t go down to the Oscar’s and do a streak! One should at least applaud the effort.

Some backstory here on Wikipedia the streaker. Niven's quick retort was likely penned before the stunt. Notice he was smiling and laughing even before he saw him.

The Henley streaker was brutally and hysterically dealt with.  I think the difference with other occasions was the rather high security that attended the Olympic torch relay. Ill judged perhaps by the streaker to gain the maximum time of 'exposure' for his cause.

With all this overreaction to nudity,  something is wrong with the thought process that's being engaged in.    And people aren't stopping to think how stupid it is.     Perhaps an over reaction to sexual perversion in our society.
