Very interesting!  The AHG website is completely new and is either a professional job or a very good template.  Huge effort with the photos - the album of winter pictures is fabulous.  Also aerial photography in the home page video is great (taken by a drone I reckon, n'est ce pas?).
I reckon they've got a new marketing person on board or under new management.
What is completely absent (that I could find) is any reference to or from the Pollards (except for one pic with Ian Pollard in a shirt but no kegs).  The history page makes no mention of recent years in the Pollards possession. No longer any copy about the naked gardeners as a marketing point and all of a sudden you can stay and dine inside the house. The clothing optional days no longer have their own page and the familiar chat as to how to use the Belvedere to store stuff etc.

One wonders if the Pollards have now sold out /moved out and that the downplaying of the CO days is a precursor to reducing and removing them albeit that rumour has it that they are very profitable days....and who is Rufus?  I couldn't find an up to date news article about what's happening/happened to selling it, the Pollards' divorce etc.

Anybody any the wiser?

John

Rufus is Ian's son. From the BN forum - Information has it that naturism will be allowed in the lower gardens. It is also expected that any bad behaviour must be reported to the staff at the time.

Changes are certainly taking place

Sorry for ignorance, which are the lower gardens?  Presumably the ones either side of the river down the main pathway from the Belvedere?
Does that mean nudity restricted to that area on CO days?  Or (unlikely, I know), allowed any day?

Nudity is only allowed on clothing-optional days.
The lower gardens are the part down by the river and this part is partially visible from the public path which runs alongside the gardens. Last year there was some misbehaviour in this part of the gardens and for the last one or two clothing optional days nudity was not allowed in that part of the gardens.
We have been assured that nudity will be allowed throughout the gardens on clothing-optional days this year but have been asked to report any unacceptable behaviour promptly so that the perpetrators may be appropriately dealt with.

I see, so the lower gardens have been brought back into nude use on CO days.

OK, sorry, ineluctable curiosity drives me to ask - what was the unacceptable behaviour?  Was there a lot of it?

Pleased to see that this year they've gone back to having some Fridays in the schedule, not all Sundays. A weekday is easier for me to get along to so I might actually get back here this year

Abbey House Gardens Saturday 11 June 2016

The current forecast at XC Weather (click here) was looking pretty good for the next Clothing Optional day at Abbey House Gardens. (Although, having just looked again it is now forecasting rain in the afternoon).

I am hoping to get there, is anyone else from this fine group going to be there?(Or have I now put you all off).

Have fun,

Ian

No Ian you've certainly not put me off, and I'd attend but we are sur le continent.

I hope you all have a great day.

Unfortunately I'll be supporting the wife on a jam stall, tea bar, cake buffet or the like.  Yuk.
Unfortunately and, since the weather is looking OK, even more unfortunately, is everyone aware of the fact that it's the day of the Queen's 90th official birthday thing?  So the rural world at least and probably the urbane sprawl too (sic, by the way!) are jollifying and purporting to recreate the imagined community spirit of those long-lost,you guessed it, 'good old days'.

Thus, unless AHG is doing the same nude (now that would be good!) my guess is that it might affect the attendance.  Just a thought.

The imagined residual patriotism and unaccustomed togetherness of the populus as represented by the 'Dunkirk Spirit', The WI and and the like is rallying for a celebration of the Queen's accidental longevity of life and reign, this Saturday.  Whilst I am not one to spoil or pooh pooh others' reasons for a good party and neither do I wish the Queen to miss out on her national adulation and good PR, I wonder about the motivation for all this enforced jollity.  Mind you, in our village, the parish council, WI, sports club and worthy organisations will take up any excuse for a celebration and I have to say that the excessive plenty of cake provided by the local bakers almost rivals the very best in cakeification and bunnage that this sceptred isle has to offer.  It will therefore be my pleasure to celebrate Queenie's 90th with a walk (note) to the village hall and the consumption of an excess of cake plus, due to the proximity, hopefully a foaming flagon or two of the brown stuff (and I don't mean tomato fertiliser!).

I have to be much more determined to do AHG these days.  One shortcoming of my house move is that AHG is over an extra hour's drive away now (somewhat over 3 hrs).  Can't pop out and back so effectively.  However it wasn't a priority.  More relevant was the locale:  This sunny afternoon I have mowed the lawn naked and sat out naked sunbathing for longer than I've had for a long time.  I'm only typing this because I've come in having cooked myself to a nicety.  In these new freer circumstances I have taken advantage of the bouts of good weather in May & last 3 days and actually have a tiny bit of tan!  The top of my legs and arms are a very tiny bit browner than the underneath!  That's a first!

So, with everyone in town eating cake, can you sneak out to the country and get some all over tan? Let 'em eat cake. I'll take some healthy sun. 8)

I'm pleased when I hear of a little old lady turning the BIG 9-oh. Bless her heart. She's certainly been born into good fortune. Reminds me of my own mother. Mom had a stroke before the year was out, however. It's a milestone put into people's heads.

Saturday's forecast for Malmesbury is still going the wrong way; it's looking damp most of the day now :(

I'll probably make a decision to go or not on Friday.

Have fun,

Ian.

I feel the same way as Ian - whilst I would very much like to go, the forecast is putting me off. I have been clothes free for much of the last four days anyway, so do not need to go to a lot of effort just to get naked!
