Anyone tried free-range naturism in Corfu?
« on: July 07, 2016, 12:34:35 PM »
This is a long shot, but I am about to jet off to Corfu for a two-week holiday, and would love to hear from anybody who has tried free-range naturism on the island.

I have never been there before, but Google Maps suggests there should be plenty of out-of-the-way places for nude walking.

I have read up on the naturist beaches, but would welcome any advice on other locations.

Haven't been nude in Corfu but have done a few sessions on a nude beach on Crete, albeit many years ago.  We got roundly berated for our sinful desporting (i.e. nude sunbathing & swimming, nothing more) by an old lady dressed in black traditional garb who turned up each day at that beach to shake fists rant at us for a few minutes then leave! :)

If anyone tries to condemn you on religious grounds.  Just calmly ask them if they ever considered Genesis 2:25,   and Isaiah 20.   And perhaps Matt 24:18 as well. (indicating the common practice of naked field work)  The Bible which is their supposed authority for all doctrine and practice does not condemn nudity.  The original pair being created as nudists/naturists.    And one place actually commanded it of one man for a 3 year period (Isa. 20)    Uses their own book to prove they don't have a clothed leg to stand on.   The leather robes the first pair were shown how to make are often cited as evidence that we're supposed to wear something,  but there is no indication anywhere they were intended for moral integrity.   Physical protection from cold is the only obvious use for them.    People get lust or sexual misconduct so closely tied to nudity in their minds that they can't separate the two.     It took me some time and study to split the two in my mind,  keep the good (nude) and throw out the bad, (sexual perversion)

I shall look up those refs, Reuben! Great.
These days leather robes have a range of entirely different connotations! :)
For instance (he wrote coyly,) perhaps the leather robes were to start them off on a blacksmithing course! :) :D
They had already done a class in cookery hence the 'aprons' of fig leaves a few verses earlier!

Apologies for my whimsy!  But I'm actually agreeing with your point about the mainstream interpretation of the clothing of skins / leather verse.  It's difficult to interpret and subject to a range of readings.  Maybe the bible writers simply put that phrase in as a convenient way to explain, in a purely assumed factual historical way, why mankind generally just happens to wear a lot of clothing? You can certainly read Gen 2:25 in several ways.  From a simple statement of fact, or a statement of how things should be, ( that is, naked and no shame needed) through to a huffing & puffing tone of disapproval (Naked and unashamed? How sinful!).

There is probably information in websites that deal in Nakations. In America the general rule is to familiarize yourself with the local laws before jumping in with both bare feet.

Foreknowledge is a good thing.

I looked up Corfu on Wikipedia and there is a trove of information and it all is fascinating, WHAT A PLACE!

Then, I went to good 'ol CAptain Barefoot's site and checked out this Ionian beauty. There are about a dozen listings of nude beaches, etc. : http://www.capnbarefoot.info/

Now, I wanna go!

Yes, we can't wait.

Just sitting on a nude beach has limited appeal, but I've also been Googling and understand that you can walk 'for miles' naked along one of the beaches (Haikounas/Issos), so this has now becoming my mission.

I also suspect it will be possible to find other remote spots, inland, to go free range.

Will report back!
