Curiously, as I stood at the counter at the office barefoot head to toe, next to me, a small friendly older lady smiled at me like she had never seen a naked body. It was like she wouldn’t expect a naked man in the office of a nudist club. To this day, I haven’t figured that out. Could it have been some kind of a nudist dementia?
I immediately resonated with the description of the woman. This reminded me of the older (I don’t want to call her elderly although she appeared to be) naked woman at OLT that was wandering about in the parking lot. When I walked across the lot, we nodded and smiled at each other. No words. Just two naked people passing and nothing but body language. Neither one of us said “Have a NICE day!” She seemed to be waiting for someone and was passing time in the lot. I don’ t know.

When I disrobe in a place that doesn’t normally include nude humans, I always smile. Inside or out. Sometimes both. I don’t know why. It seems like it is what was necessary at the moment and is perfectly appropriate in that moment. The lack of clothes strips away all the status and most of the pretense. There is only the person’s outward appearance and the only thing anyone can see is what your facial expression and body language is telling them.

From your description, it sounded to me like she was experiencing something like that.
Or maybe not! :D

I liked the trail walk “off reservation”. It sounded like a quiet spell after the hectic trip. Glen Eden is one of those resorts smack up next to a freeway. I’ve thought about visiting that one and Olive Dell at some point but the location sort of puts me off. I’m used to distant horizons when I go hiking. Homes and freeway noise up close and personal is something that isn’t new or different and just doesn’t sit well with me for a hike.

I guess I’m a snob about that.
Did they have camping there?

They have camping there.

It isn't butted up against the freeway. It is far enough away to cut the traffic noise. All of the trees help that, too. We came over a ridge and there were the tract houses that we had been warned about, sitting below. Before that sight, it felt very natural. The other ridge was covered in vegetation.

Our only concern was bumping into kids from the tract houses in the undetermined distance. Heading back, we knew that we were safe. Exploring at first we were hesitant and cautious, carrying clothing, ready for stealth tactics.

You can't really see the Interstate from there unless you try to. It is a cozy little neighborhood and in a well chosen microclimate. I suppose that it is more a situation of having conveniently located access to the freeway.

Actually, I didn't describe the interaction well when I wrote this a few years back. She actually said something to me about how brazen (not a quote) that I was, being naked at the front desk of a nudist resort. She stared like she was surprised to see a naked man, which was kinda goofy to me. Like she had wandered on to the property and an old friend of her's was working the desk. It was like "How is it that you are not self-conscious standing there naked like that?"

At a nudist resort! Now that’s funny! But, go figure. She thought you were someone not behaving according to the accepted rules.

Must have been some norm in her mind. I'm not so sure if the norm applied where she was standing. Nor sure if she was fully aware of where she was standing. :o
