Arivaipa Canyon Preserve Revisited: A Trip Report
« on: March 24, 2017, 06:29:36 AM »
Inspired, we head back to Aravaipa Canyon and get into it deeper. This begins a series of three areas in Southern Arizona, each progressively more primitive.

Keep posting Jbee! The more I see the easier it may become to convince Mrs. Walker to spend the winter in Arizona. It's still a work in progress however and with our overall mild winter snowfall wise she's questioning the effort.

Nudewalker: Has she seen the website? Arizona Highways has brought many a snowbird to us. Our pics are not as selective. They are more real, representative, candid, explanatory and less exploitative. I try to bring people along and taste the place and the experience as best as I can.

I kinda figured that. It suits you. Question would be, where in this vast playground will you two land?

If I only had to convince her of the location it would be an easy sell. Like I said before there is a lot more in logistics that enter into the picture. Let's just say it was one of the reasons we did not return to Florida this winter. Sometime these things feel like Ike planning D-day!

We're leaning toward your recommendation for the north side of Tucson.  Maybe we could participate in a nudist community or nude friendly street.

Jbee,

Your trip reports could be used in advertising for the state of Arizona. What a place!

The only place I've been to in Nevada that is like this is Lamoille Canyon just south of Elko, NV. Which is about 450 miles from here.

This state is amazingly diverse. Here in the south three major regional bioms come together cross breeding everything that they are. The sky islands and the elevation changes produce diversity and generally all year warm weather. The sea is just a few hours away. Then, not far up north the Mogollon Rim with the red rock and riparian flows from the mountains and then the alpine areas. Then there are many lakes. Dozens of different climates to choose from and go where the weather suits my lack of clothes.

It isn't as warm, but Utah has much more Alpine to trek in and the southern part of that state has some of the most fascinating geological structures in the world, with water.

New Mexico is not to snivel at for free ranging wide open spaces, less populated.

Both of those states are but a days drive, or less, from Baja Arizona.

I don't want to attract others to Arizona and ruin it quicker than is being done, just more naturists.

West Virginia continues to lose population as the jobs dry up and/or move away. On the one hand it means more free range areas but also means basic services the state provides will also decrease as tax revenues drop. The budget has not passed yet but I wonder the effect on my favorite haunts such as parks and wildlife areas. Maybe a move is in our future also. There was this area outside of Phoenix we visited........

If there's more than two, then it's a movement, and that's what we'll call it the,,,,

The wind has been blowing, our mild winter is back the last three days or more. DF is in Sedona freezing and bundled. The flowers are curling up....next week.

One of the larger forests in America, by area, is Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada.
It is mostly sky islands like you mention.
