Nobody runs for the Hills.
« on: August 31, 2017, 03:44:53 PM »
Good article in the Guardian.  I posted it on a separate topic rather than "in the news" because its a big issue about what may be a sea change in public acceptance of nudity.

“The law is not our problem,” British Naturism spokesman Andrew Welch tells me. “The law is very much in favour of naturism. Completely, in fact. It’s the culture that’s the problem. You just have to keep chipping away.”

As I have said many times, we naked people have to "chip away" be being out and SEEN in public as often as we can.  Its not the law, its the lack of people seeing naked humans that makes it "disturbing" to see a naked human.  We can only change that if we are seen by the public often enough that seeing a real uncovered human is a normal experience.

I've met Andrew Welch, at a nude swim in London. Sorry, it was a factory farmed event!

It is good news. I wonder how Andrew Martinez would have fared in these days at Berkley. I don't think that this side of the "pond" is changing as quick.

"No longer happy to be hidden in naturist clubs and on nudist beaches, the bare body has jiggled its way into areas previously reserved for the clothed,..."

It may have been promoted by a "factory farm" group, but the photos were free range on the streets of Brighton and London.

To have someone claim a preference for not wearing clothes, and then wearing only lace-up work shoes with socks while cycling seemed a little strange. I have reached the point of noticing how my feet feel when wearing constricting shoes. It just looks a bit odd.

But as Bob said, a little here and a little there. It eventually adds up to a more normal reaction to innocent nudity.

I have hardly worn shoes this summer and if I do they are very lean and mean sandals that expose as much of the foot as possible bar the sole.  As autumn catches hold I have rather frequently felt utterly constrained by socks and footwear when I have to use them.  Can't wait to shed them when I get home!

Barefoot at the keyboard (but not actually naked.  I have a shirt on as it's a bit cold tonight).

I just barefoot all over. Basically the same thing, I suppose.
