This is a good place to tell about my user name--Blue Train. The British have apparently been going to the south of France for a long time. Either by train or by car. It was considered sport to try to drive faster than the train. Someone managed to do it in a Rover sedan and the company made a big deal of it in their advertising. It was a 1929 or 1930 Light Six, which was thereafter called the Blue Train Rover. The name of the train was the Blue Train (there are other trains with that name), le train bleu.

People don't do things like that anymore and we don't have many trains with names, either. Ironically, the last train I was on was called the "Autotrain."

So, Nuduke, about this 90 mile travel distance and the attitude of nudity being a secondary importance.

If I want to get to the good stuff, I often have to go further. We seldom travel 90 for a day hike, but we have. If we travel 90 we often take a tent and overnight near these places, or at them. That's how we get into these really cool spots and away from the bother of people. It is worth it. It is a minny vacation, a get away.

I think you slightly misunderstand or more likely I didn't make myself clear.  I would happily drive 90mi to do what you do in the country you have.  Doing something specific or going to somewhere amazing is always worth it and if you can be naked too, well...nirvana.  You guys go out to explore and are able to get naked.  You are not there just to be naked.  So with me.  My view was that for a short routine walk in average territory just to have the opportunity to be naked is not worth the mileage.  But to make the effort to travel to engage in something worthwhile e.g. climb a Munro naked or get to AHG or Naked Day at the Eden Project or whatever is fine.  But a relatively local spot, easily accessible without a longggg journey is great simply for a bit of naked communion with nature.  I think we agree actually!

145 hours to drive 788 miles? I had a car like that once ...

Think maybe I made another mistake? I even have trouble making a post.

I think that some days I might drive 90 miles just to do a naked hike, only not right now, in January. There is an element of exploring when I go hiking, or more correctly, discovery. I find that I keep going back to the same places over and over again, for one reason or another. The trails are fairly interesting and not exhaustingly difficult. To do other trails means driving even further but it depends on the time of the year. In any event, there isn't anywhere around here that I can hike nude, although there are plenty of trails that meet the other qualifications. Unfortunately, some of the better ones are in places where I would have to go through heavy rush hour traffic to get to and the parking on nice weekends is difficult. There are a few places where I can be nude but where I can't do a long hike while nude. So, you can't have everything.
