The Santa Rita Mountains: A Preliminary Investigation
« on: January 04, 2018, 06:01:12 AM »
A Holiday drive to investigate the potential of a new area. Got out and walked in spite of the impending storm and cold, when the wind died down.

One of the advantages of exploring as you did is the lack of leaves and other impediments that bloc the view in summer.  In fact a few unmarked pathways were found when the snow had melted on the dirt surface before melting on the grassy areas. As soon as this frigid weather breaks there are a few places I need to explore before spring. I'm sure there will be a great trip report as soon as you two can get back there for some free range time.

Really Moody skies, Jbee.  More oil painting than excursion! :D

Yep, the pics can't do full justice, but given a 32 inch screen and blow up, they do show the depth and mass of the vistas. It was luck to get that dash of SN/FRN up the trail on such a dead winter's day with wind and threatening storms constantly.
