I expect that hiking in a mixed group would elicit fewer negative comments or at least be less alarming to people, although that is something I have not done, not counting being with my wife. But be aware that opinions and reactions may vary over the decades, since people seem emboldened by whatever the current political climate happens to be. Right now the political climate is stormy. Naturally, the climate isn't the same everywhere and it may not be what you think it is, if you happen to be somewhere away from home.

All the same, people can be surprisingly conscious of "intruding" upon someone else's presence. Just this morning I had taken a hike (this was in the neighborhood woods and fully clothed) to one of my favorite nearby sites (and sights), where I was sitting on the shore of a lake wondering what a certain blue heron perched high in a tree was going to do. Ten minutes later a family showed up, father, mother and three little girls. Both parents apologized for intruding. It seems that the unspoken and unwritten rule is first one there gets the spot, at least where fishing is concerned. And sometimes in the backcountry, the first one there sets the norms.

Well, rw, there are several here on this forum. You just have to hunt for them.
So , here are the ones I found. It’s quite a bit. Enjoy the reading. If you can’t find what you are looking for, post a question.

Begun on 11/14/13, Encounters...what to do? (358 replies).

Begun on 7/7/15, A Secret Naturist Section? (5 replies)

Begun on 5/17/16, Naked Hiker Spotted (35 replies)

Begun on, 6/3/16, Anyone cited by police? (16 replies)

Begun on, 3/21/17, Free Range Without a Net (46 replies)

Begun on, 3/1/18, Hiking without a net (61 replies)
Begun on, 5/21/18, Hiking without a net Part II (27 replies). Why there’s two of these, I don’t know.

A good bit of this was also posted on our dearly departed old site. There’s probably a good bit of duplication.

I have been seen three times. Twice, nothing happened except an exchange of “Hi, good day for a hike!”
The one negative one was weird. A guy spotted me laying out off the trail a ways, just resting and enjoying myself. He blurted, “O f***, and took off. After a bit, I got up and left by another route.

Nothing happened that I was aware of. Hopefully, I just startled him. All three were men.

My naked hiking encounters have been benign but rare, which is just as well.

I started both of the Hiking without a net threads. I started the second one as sort of an on-the-spot report with an after-action report. But the creek rose and there was no long hike. Luck of the draw. So I still have a goal not yet completed.

I'm probably not a secret naturist. Next to nothing that I do is secret, although much might be described as "private." I'm just living my life pretty much as I please, minding my own business and staying out of people's faces. Would that others do the same. It's only good manners. If someone asked me directly about my nude activities, I'd happily tell them anything. You probably shouldn't be doing things you don't want people to know about. But also don't try telling them things that they may not want to know about, either. They call it "too much information."

I fancy myself a nude hiker, although for various reasons I don't do much of that anymore. In other forums dedicated to the subject, I had many interesting message exchanges over the years and I really miss those forums that have all gone away. But such is the internet. Here today, gone tomorrow.
