One day all shall realize that there is much to do about nothing...it would seem that most realize that already...nearly all in the hiking natural world.

I think the best approach is to keep your doings private but not secret. It's nobody's business and anyway, most people aren't interested anyway.

HillwalkerDundee,
I think you have done great service to our cause in broaching the subject with the FC and evidently educating them both in the new rules and in the psychology, practice, experiences and intention of naturists (i.e. benign in all cases) with only a few words.  Well done.

I think more people might make such enquiries of FC in other parts of the country.  The problem always is that if you ask the police or other officialdom about their policy, that may simply trigger them to think about it for the first time ever and as a result of no precedent trigger a self-preservation pavlovian reaction and simply slap down a straight NO on the table.  This might put people off enquiring and / or asking permission since to not mention it carries no penalty of refusal (unless you are caught) but asking carries a 50/50 chance of prompting the answer no.
At least your FC area has a thoughtful and reasonable guy setting the practice for the region.

Quite a few people have been talking to the police in their area with the aid of the 2018 College of Police guidance. All they need to do is draw it to the police’s attention. They can’t then just ignore it and say ‘no’. Ignorance is the main issue at present.
