A Practical Thinking Website

I found this. There is a French and an English version. He aligns with my views pretty well. I enjoyed the reading of several articles.

So yes, there is the law and it is not possible to undress at all times and in all places, especially the latter. However, whether at home, on a naturist beach, in nature or in a naturist center, the choice to take off your clothes is yours.

Far too many nudists are way too afraid of "the law," in my opinion.  Many places where we could be nude we find nudists wanting to be covered.  They make excuses like "Not to offend non-nudists."   They say "nude only where appropriate" as if human bodies are not appropriate everywhere we go.

While the author is right, we can't undress in all times and all places, most nudists could refuse to dress in a lot more times and places than they do.  Even back when I was President of an AANR (non land owning) club, I was often the only member who would hike naked in the national forest and back woods trails.  Even recently I am out hiking or bicycling naked on trails and the "nudists" in my area are all hiding behind fences in a couple of "Naturist" retreats.

Quote
What about a nudist? Doesn’t he like nature or respect others?

Of course I respect others.  They have a right to cover their bodies and I respect that.   Where is their respect for my choice to enjoy the sunshine?  Respect for others has long been used by "nudist" resorts to promote their high fences and prevent us from promoting the choice not to wear filthy rags on our body as a fundamental human freedom.

Quote
Shouldn’t respect be a two-way street? I tend to think so, especially when we want naturism and nudism to be seen as normal states in our society.

Yes, there is no respect unless it works both ways.   If they are not respecting my right to my body choices, then I need have no respect for theirs.

In my experience though, after 60 years of going naked in public places, probably 99% of the people I met were unperturbed by my choice to be naked.  Many of them enjoyed meeting a naked person.  A very few were more surprised than supportive, but only because it is so rare to see an actual human body.

We nudists all ought to insist on our right to choose for ourselves and go naked in public whenever we are not at serious risk of police harassment.

I agree with all you say, Bob, while confessing to being one of those who covers up far more than I think I need to - I blame a lifetime of social conditioning that I am only now breaking out of, thanks to the internet and, through it, discovering so many people with whom I have naturism  in common. On the occasions I cover myself it is down to this social conditioning, certainly not to avoid offending non-nudists which, as you say, is the common excuse. I believe it is used as a fig leaf to hide the real reason, which we don't like to admit to, of fearing others' reactions. My own experience, like yours, is that encounters lead to friendliness or acceptance or, at worst, being ignored. As the man said (under different circumstances), "we have nothing to fear but fear itself".

There are several articles along these lines on his blog. Cumulatively, they present a practical. no big deal attitude about a person in life not dressed, or dressed comfortably.

He did meticulously remove images of explicitly nude bodies to not shock, or be categorized by non- nudists who may object. DF and I have taken to the opposite, presenting an authentic naturist image to allow people and condition them to the fact that it is just a body. His move was to make it more palatable to the ignorant mainstream person to have them read and be converted/persuaded before being turned off by a nude image. To get their feet wet, or plant some seeds, or to get behind the wall like a Trojan horse.

It might work on the curious. It doesn't censor body parts like some will. It allows the dialog to be placed in more spots that nude images would be welcomed in the media and internet.

I suppose that an image that suggests nudity and nakedness, but doesn't show the forbidden anatomy, can be presented without appearing censored (as it is), to some extent. Really difficult to maintain, though.

He is stuck with stock images, none of his own.

Yea, Bob, "ANRR", screw 'em.

He has presented images of a guy just jogging down teh street and sitting at a bar in a more perfect world. It looks to me to be presented convincingly normal and harmless.

Yes Peter. I too have my sense of feeling more naked. Until I get used to a situation and feel more liberated, or normal often depends on my conditioning. Sometimes it goes away in moments after being immersed in the contrast between usual world and free situations. The company that I am associating with does inhibit. How they are looking at me, their attitudes makes a difference.

With the current law in uk it's often only our own minds that prevent us getting more free range naturist experiences.

Im quite happy to be able to say that over the last 20 odd years I've evolved from a secret naturist into a largely free range one....I do still have self defined limits which are still evolving.

When I come flying into a UK airport and you meet me, we take a lunch and head out into your lovely hills, this and all in between nude, we will be truly free range naturists.

If you drop by Tucson for a visit, we will be undressing in the SUV, or parking lot, keep cover handy during the drive, eating nude at home, or slipping something over, or on to drive thru, or take out. We will hike in a specially chosen place. Driving is pretty safe, hiking safe but with educated caution, and my house/yard is walled in and totally reconnoitered. This is free range as best that can be managed. It requires at times, secret naturist CRAFT, diligence, and planning. Still, there are times that, although silly, one must cover up, or mitigate as a secret behavior.

I would enjoy having a friend to go naked hiking or bicycling with.  Alas, my efforts over the past 40 years have not succeeded.   Internet friends are too far away, and we free range naturists are still too few, at least in my area.

There hot springs and a nude few public places out there in Washington. Hanging out there, you might be able to cull out a couple of hikers, or bikers, or just hang out with naturists. You are obviously getting around better with your new health. Perhaps there are now more options available to you, than in the past?

Speaking of your new health, Bob
I took a look at your website and the sylph like physique nowadays is a significant contrast to the big ol' guy of even a couple of years ago.
I just wanted to congratulate you on the tenacity, single mindedness and resolve that must have been necessary to effect that weight loss and remark that even with the additional skin wrinkles, you look great.
I struggle to maintain my weight at a reasonable level - everything I eat except lettuce seems to end up on my waist!  Everytime I lose a few pounds, they seem to drift back.  I had one large restaurant meal a few weeks ago and I added 2-3lb by the next day.  I didn't eat 2-3lb of food at one meal.  How can that happen!  I have to say it did go back down again over the next 2 weeks or so but it's so depressing - 2-3 weeks to lose 1lb and 1 day to add it back again! :(

Thanks John.  Actually the Carnivore diet is not much of a struggle. I eat when hungry.  Its what you eat that matters.  That large restaurant meal you mentioned will load you up with carbs and sugars.  It turns to fat almost immediately.  I don't go hungry at restaurants. I only order the steak and not the sides, breads, or deserts. Thanks for the compliment.
