Phew!  Lot of reading there, Jbee.  I've bookmarked it for later consumption.
I remember you doing this masters some time ago (or perhaps I remember you telling us about it).  What was the result?  What was the title of your thesis?

I was looking into of a thesis in concern of children and nudity, but that had been covered so well, I saw little to add, unless I did a study to add to it. I ended up doing mine on transpersonal energy, which was part of my reason for the trip to India to monk out in alternative therapies.

The result? Got a sheepskin and more credibility. Got educated. Studied many fascinating topics, my idea of fun and grew in many ways...I suppose I justified my existence for a few years.

Nice that it was fun!  I guess there's little point in doing additional degrees unless you are entirely motivated to do one.  Writing theses is HARD!  I found it so and my wife, who did an MA just after she retired, from a burning desire to establish that she could take elements of her career specialism to greater depth, had a hard time making the thesis.  A friend who did a PhD as a mature student also had a helluva time with the thesis although both wife and friend were driven on by their deep engagement with the topic by the thesis completion stage.  I had to advise both of them to stop fiddling about with ever more finer bits of research to polish their work to a fine patina, as it was killing them and both works were great anyway!  They were both their own worst enemies.  They both graduated with distinctions!

It was work. It took time. The senior, who was also head of department was an academic ass. Crossing the t's, dotting eyes was his main concern not content. I finally had a professional clean it up and he was still complaining about sentence structure word choice. I think it had to do with my unorthodox take and topic.  Hazing is not unusual, I've been told from several sources.
