An article in the Guardian in 2019 asks if naturism is dying out in Germany. Article says that although some groups have reported a rise in membership, the practice is declining with nudity being pushed aside and FKK dying due to a “nudity taboo” with people being more reluctant to take part. I was wondering if any of our German members could tell us more about this?

The content in this old article appears to be similar to what is said of ANRR and clubs here in USA. If that is true maybe the old ways of getting naked are being replaced by new practices to getting naked, less organized.

The young are getting naked here in USA, just very differently. It is always a percentage of population and not a general social trend. The same course of 40 plus year olds at resorts replenishing the nudist population at the old venues is similar.

I recall only one response a few years back from a German participant. I'm curious. Who's lurking?

Thanks for bringing up the topic,
Jbee

I think Jbee might be right.  The old landed club based model is probably getting senile but younger people are finding new ways to express their naturism.  I recall a flurry of press a few years ago about young people getting naked on mountain tops, for instance.  We don't hear much about it because its not organised, doesn't have a point to make and is quite widely distributed and perhaps more spontaneous.  The one organised and publicised naturist phenomenon of recent years is naked bike rides through cities.  That's a completely separate thing from FKK type naturism.  Many naked bike riders are naked because it is the way to participate and to raise money rather than being naturists who classify themselves as naturists.
Then there's the increasing incidence of 'nudie' programmes on TV (Naked Attraction, Naked and Afraid, Naked Beach, Life Stripped Bare to name just a few of many) which indicate there is an arising new and tolerant attitude amongst the media to nudity albeit that its real ethos is to sell TV by voyeurism and mild titillation.  I fervently hope that new generations of naturists are arising and evolving and will find ways of expressing that which maybe us old codgers never even dreamed or thought of.

I don't watch TV, but wow, that's good news. The more people are exposed to nudity there, the more natural and reasonable it appears. The more they see it, the more preconceived notions will start to unravel and be questioned AND THE they will take actions.

don'T exactly know how it is in germany.
but here in austria you can see a lot younger go to spas and sauna where nudity is required.
so maybe they also move on to naked bathing places to do some "real" fkk. as there are a lot of older people it might be the reason for youngers not to go there...

There was an article on daytime TV (Steph's Packed Lunch) today on Clover Spa nudist hotel in Birmingham today.  Usual "ooo-er" reporting and a very thin report for content but at no time regarded naturism as in any way negative.
The sun was out and they talked about needing sun cream so I suspect it was an article made for showing anytime the show had an embarrassing gap in content :D
