The trouble with spams, scams and hacks is that much of the time it ain't humans that are doing it - just mindless bots, servers, programs and such. That's why vigilance is needed which I am pleased to see you are aware of.
I read that a lot of the evil stuff that comes into our inboxes and onto screens is the product of huge scamming and spamming operations in eastern Europe amongst other locations. I also learn from a military friend that there is a constant cyber war going on with continuous breaking into military technology by the east and west into each others' highest security systems leading to more development of ever more encrypted and secret IT. Much of the appalling aggression that seems to be endemic in the human race is evidently now being played out in invisible technological battlefields.
