Sunlight and the Body
« on: January 28, 2022, 11:25:16 PM »
I bumped into this. It's about how sunlight and different frequencies of light affect the body and those mechanics. It is interesting after about the first hour of the lecture.

It talks about how green spaces improve health physical and mental. NIR light and Diabetes II, cardio improvement, premature birth, lower blood pressure, heart rate and stress.

He doesn't advocate nudity, he mentions that good stuff penetrates clothing, like a shirt anyway, but less so more clothing.

There's stuff on SAD and the need for full spectrum light. He's an MD, but I don't know much about what he does with that, or sponsorship.

Anyway, sunlight good, covering bad to not so bad, skin likes it. Mid-day more Vit D, morning and evening are good too. So my take away is sunlight is good all day. ;D

I skipped through this video so not comprehensively watched but yes, this guy seems to be advocating getting out in the sunshine for the infra red rays which seem to do us good in hard to fathom ways!  I am a little sceptical if all this science and learned papers actually mean much - Isn't it researching the completely obvious?  Infra red =  heat.  Isn't all this blather just saying that anything that has radiant warmth e.g. a log fire is good for you?  I know that!  Irrespective of these theories, whenever we have our log burner on in the living room you'll find me standing in front of it warming my behind!  It feels good.  And don't we all know that you don't need an MD to know that sunshine makes everything better? :D

I clicked on to the series of videos and this guy has made large numbers of videos to help medical students learn and runs a website where students can buy condensed revision for their courses.

Sunshine is the best elixir we can get.  All that fear that was pushed 50 years ago was just nuts.

Nuts all the way to the bank...

...whaoh! Has it been 50 years!?

Sunshine feels wonderful, naked better. If you over do it, you get burned. It seems to boil down to that doesn't it. I like your observation Bob.

Momma, no, grandma knew that, except the "naked better" part.  Apparently, we need more naked mommas and naked grandmas.

Too many rebellious doctors didn't listen to to their elders and now look at the confusion and problems! They all got shnooked by guys with snake oil to spread over their skin. Couldn't see the obvious and probably didn't get the lab coat off with the rest of the blinders that they wear.
