I am sad to have missed out on visiting De Anza. I've actually passed by the site a couple times on road trips and always assumed I would get to it later.

Ooops!

I should probably look to trying to visit those that are still around in southern California and Arizona.

Jbee, do you know anything about this group? I think they are located in central to northern Arizona. Maybe not too far of a drive for me.

Or maybe I could get in touch with Ken & Amy. They are not too far either.

That is Ken and Amie. This weekend, they are hosting a memorial at their place for Mr. Willits, as he passed on recently and was a founding person and supporter of the group that they are still the ring leaders.

Get it while you can. Things won't always last forever.

I'm certain that Ken and Amie would love to hear from you.

Duane

I am grateful for this, Duane.  I was perhaps forgetting the sheer diversity of our proclivity to be without clothes.
Yes, I am what I am and that's all that I am (as Popeye the Sailor used to say in a similar confirmation of his uniqueness).
I particularly related to this line in your post of 24th Aug:
Quote
As long as you are trying to get out in the country to free yourself for a short time and you return with a bounce in yer step
That really resonated with me because that's how I feel after one of my nowadays rare rambles in nature.  It's indeed often a brief experience but the bounce in my step is what I DO feel on the return journey.  You understand and it's great to hear that from someone who does too.

I am sorry to know this loss of what might have still been an opportunity, if I would be going that way with others, I knew about it being there. I also know that other places were being lost for naturism and nudism too.

With the loss of significant safe havens in key areas to real-estate influences, how might that affect naturism and social nudism?
They are havens, and safe places to get feet wet, but we have seen that once members get lulled into the social fun, they are still remaining unreasonably afraid of free range activities and can't be wrestled out of their cages. Non-landed clubs could replace the landed. There has been concern about the aging population of the nudist clubs and naturism dying out. Naturists need meeting places,if we are to branch out, and sustain or increase numbers and activities, besides internet meetings.

Keeping a movement together is much more difficult when there can be no meetings and a place to practice the movement's objectives. We aren't heard. We aren't able to be a part of communities to perform for PR needs and our acceptance.

Youthful people got together on free beaches in the 70's, became organized into the 80's, but they are now older folks these days.

I think even as distasteful as it is to some of us here, there is a place, an extra card to play, an extra avenue, or tool to the factory farms.
