We take a short hike up a hill in search of a trail into the northeast side of the Tortolita Mountains:

What amazed me about this trip is that the wide open spaces with nothing and no one as far as the eye can see, there is still enough trash for DF to collect a big bag of it!  We humans are disgusting.

All I saw was a shotgun shell and a plastic bottle. She has a good eye and sees more. I try to ignore, she gets at it. I have a couple of pics of her digging, squatting under bushes after stuff.

It was a large area and no one was there to clean up...ever, she the first. Personally, any sense of disgust came more from the destruction from the cattle. Also, things like uncrushed plastic bottles are bulky and too icky to handle to crush out there, without a handwipe and you don't know who may have taken up residence in say a can.

Sometimes, other places near the border, a remote nice desert will have a big pile of old clothing and water from illegals making a stop while smuggling.
