Just you a companion and a most opulent God making itself known, it appears. Such country!

I haven't seen a shepherd in many years.  I wouldn't know what to do with that.

So, what is the story about the dog and its owner?

Oh, there's no story. We had coffee at the restaurant before we left for the hike, and then when we left the dog followed us...and stayed with us for the entire six-hour ride. On the way back we went to the restaurant for a beer and the dog's owner wasn't surprised.
