The 2015 Naturist Society Western Gathering at De Anza
« on: July 31, 2015, 11:48:02 AM »
The latest trip report is up. We were at The Naturist Society Western Gathering last week at De Anza resort near Jacumba, California.

It is lengthy, but you can read each day one at a time. There are numerous pictures to click on.
It is probably confusing at points. I'm still laying out the thing and it looks just great, but then when I push "publish", it gets all out of whack and I don't understand why yet.

Too much time today putting it together, it's late and I don't know if I'll put in the effort to try to rearrange the thing, or not.

Have fun,
Jbee

Oh, posting things in the middle of the night with one eye open...

...Here's the link: http://thefreerangenaturist.org/2015/07/31/the-naturist-society-gathering-2015-trip-report/

I spent three hours this morning, attempting to fix the post's flaws. It let me do some, but not others. The system is not easy.

Doesn't this topic belong more to "farmed" nudism than free range nudism?

But it is more applicable to trip reports.

A trip report in Factory Farmed Nudism perhaps.

Travel happily naked 500 miles across country, to a place that is a resort not a penned in farm, not a factory, but not free range, BUT has hiking of hundreds of square miles off of the property to explore, railroad and state and federal land, remote, but no different from any federal property, is free range. There are no fences, just a gate on the road. If the resort didn't maintain the road, we would have to 4x4 to get back into those places, or hike cross country 4 miles  from the Jacumba exit.

The Organization holding the event is NOT ANRR, it is TNS, NAC and NEF which supports and encourages all free range activities and body freedoms, defends free range naturists in courts and in legislative bodies and naturism in general as well as a good place to take a break without concern for arrest, until the law changes. Then, I carnuded back. We had fun, NAKED. Mostly insulated from the usual risks in an RV, which you called secret naturism a couple of years ago when you tripped across the country. We didn't go down to the reservation called Black's Beach, but that wouldn't be there if it wasn't created by free range naturism and it still isn't recognized or officially roped off and signed. Just because it is easy doesn’t make it any less free range.

I met a group called Camping Bares, who group camp and hike free range in organization. An anarchist Disorganization Dedicated to the Destruction of the Fabric of our Society according to the business card.

Those rocks and landscape roamed naturally are called nature and appreciated for their spirit. That is a part of naturism. That is not sitting by a pool with a beer nude.

The topics were not about resort properties, they were about how to get body freedom and the use of public lands. An incremental step is land set aside, not an end in itself, that's a part of the organization, too.

Free range is without boundaries, either by stealth, or your ballsy act. It is also, making oneself free to go ANY place nude, even if a resort is incidental, a part of and fun. My website is to encourage people to think outside boundaries who are stuck in them. There is nothing wrong with what they are doing. They are just getting ripped off because there is more.

Free Range doesn't have to mean without organization, and nude rights won't be maintained without some degree of organization. There was a factory farmed aspect to the trip, because it needed a venue. You wouldn't expect a group of anarchist to meet in a field so as not to pay somebody rent for a space, would you? Wake up and read the article again with your eyes and mind open, Bob. I know that you have a chip on your shoulder about ANRR, me to, but there is no excuse there to cop an attitude about TNS, or part of a trip that needs to be in a resort with conference rooms, or a patio with some fun. Through the years they have promoted nude hiking, naked bike rides, gardening, philosophy encouraging naturism and fighting the bad laws, sometimes with practical reason and more often with balls. People need to know that they are there and we all need to contribute to be free.

If it helps console your sensibilities, just figure that the time on the resort was like clothed time in any vacation and incidental to the rest that was freehiking and carnuding. I'm offended by the opinion, but that's okay, just lay off the insults like "nudism" and discounting games.

I'm not about to hide away in my hole, sneaking around like a rat in the night. I'm going to make changes happen, have fun and do it as naked as I can, where I need to. That's a part of my free range and participation with these people is a part of that. Free range is both an inside state and outside.
I gotta go meet DF, I’ve no time to edit. I’ll have to take care of that tomorrow.
Sheeze!

I understand your wanting to clean up the post and the organization, but your photos tell such a great story I wouldn't worry about it.

I have looked at De Anza's website a couple times Jbee, and between your reports and what I've seen on the site, it looks to be my type of "venue". There are no fences, walls or barriers evident and it appears you can roam at will across the area. That sort of freedom appeals to me.

It doesn't seem like factory farmed naturism, more like a central place to meet, drink and converse in between hikes out into the desert. A group of people behaving themselves around one another. I won't know what it's like till I make it there, but it does look attractive.

Wouldn't being a card carrying member of an anarchist group be a contradiction?
That's ok, though, I think I'm a contrarian. If I weren't I could join The Contrarian Society. I wonder what their membership is? What do you have to do to qualify as a member? If you ask to be a member, does that disqualify you? You probably have to be invited. To get in do you refuse the invitation?

It's like Groucho said, "I'd never join a club that would have me as a member". Ya, gotta love that guy. You have to admit, someone who is an anarchist, with a business card IS funny. :D

The mention of card carrying anarchists reminds me of a spoof notice that appeared in a college newspaper many years ago:
Quote
The secretary of the Apathetic Society can't be bothered to thank everybody who didn't attend it's AGM which was not held in the Great Hall last Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Thank-you for the encouragement. That web-system has been a stress at times. I figure that my relationship with it will get better incrementally.

DF and I had a great laugh at those remarks, Eyesup. These guys were the group that gave the talk about using social media to organize. They use it as a screening system, too. They are a pretty traditional landed club, but there seems to be more emphasis on the free range camping. There are about 2000 members, significantly fewer are avid participants (sounds like TSNS?). The lady that we had that dinner with does their newsletter and will mention my site and consequently others may arrive here. I spoke with an officer of the board while we were in the pool who knew DF and me from TSNS and here. He is one of us. He said that he has only posted a couple of times. They held an ice cream social to raise money for NAC at the gathering.

What I didn't state, was that part of one of the workshop's titles was "Okay, you are in your yard nude riding your lawnmower and you see two cops approaching. Who you gonna call?" NAC helps people even if they are not members of TNS, or contributors. They have limited resources. It isn't like ACLU giving free legal assistance, unless you are willing to be a poster child fighting for the issue all the way through the courts and pretty clean. They will direct you to someone who is more knowledgeable in your area, not just your pal's brothers friend the lawyer that doesn't have the knowledge or understanding. They will stand up, even send an expert on naturism to testify to government authorities, judges, etc. They are a source when in need. That could be very important to all free range naturists in North America at anytime, if something goes bad. I was feeling desperate many years ago, in a custody war and found myself calling them for help. They gave me practical useful information.

Organization is important.

Apathetic Society?
Thanks, JOhn. A good laugh in the morning is a great way to start the day.

I was reading some of the De Anza post this morning. I will have to do in sections.
Lots to read and of course, great photos. I'll have to go back.

Yeah, Jbee!  That report is nearly a book!  I need a long session to take it all in.  As I remarked earlier you are quite a writer Jbee!

On the subject of apathy and JOhn's remarks about the apathy post, when I was at university, someone regularly posted a notice on the student boards apparently from the university's Apathy Society such as  'The Apathy Society might have a meeting on Tuesday but it's probable that no one will attend'  Or 'The Apathy Society would like to announce it's AGM but we just can't be arsed!'
I wonder of there's one in every university! :)

Our unruly cheering section at university basketball games had a cheer; "Apathy, apathy is our cry! A-P A oh, the hell with it!". This makes the third time I have tried to read it and every time I catch something new. I had seen postings somewhere else about the railroad cars and wondered the how and why they were there. Anyway, besides the rip report the workshops gave me some things to think about. Excellent work as usual Jbee, keep them coming!

"Organized Anarchy" ... I like the expression!  It's FUN!

Quote from: Jbee
An anarchist Disorganization Dedicated to the Destruction of the Fabric of our Society ...

I like the pun related to the destruction of the "Fabric" (read "clothing") of our Society.  They have a good sense of humor ... it might help them get attention ...

Have fun, naked!

One could easily find out on their websites, but why bother.  :D
