Between accents, colloquialisms and pop cultural references, like inside jokes, there may be a few favorites for a Texan, but much head scratching. I dunno if I'd invest in that trip. Now, a music fest, without cold rain, SOUNDS wonderful. Lots of great stuff over there.

Ok, John. I recognize some of the names on your list. Doesn't matter to me though, if I can manage to catch the gist of the act I would probably enjoy it.

Jbee, your rain comment reminds me of a exchange with a Boy Scout Troup from Scotland. We were at a Scout camp in the Spring Mountains just outside Las Vegas. They were traveling across the country and stopped at our little event for a while. I was talking to several of the them about what they had been doing on the trip and asked what it was they liked the most about America. To a man they all responded, "It's not cold and NO RAIN!"  ;D

They seemed to be enjoying the heat here in the Mojave.

no rain can cause many problems though.    We are just being relieved from some 3-4 months of very little rain, things were getting way too dry,  the springs that supply our water were getting pretty low.  Fires started popping up here and there.    But the winter rains have finally started.  the earth is getting wet even now.   It's all sedimentary rock here,  the springs around the mountains are supplied by rain seeping through the soil and rock layers,  and emerging from crevices along the edges, frequently picking up a lot of calcium from the limestone.  No really deep source springs.  Therefore if it were dry like the west there would be no springs.

A thread of clothing!    only one thread?    if that's all we have might as well toss it and forget the clothing.  One thread wouldn't make any more than the skimpiest G string,  unless that thread were miles long and could be woven into a whole piece of fabric.    In which case it could serve as a little insulation which I'm coming to need quite often as the temperature cools.
