A bawdy Bard? Well, we already knew that!
And now for something completely different! This is from August of last year.
Naked Shakespeare in the park.
Three characters were cut from this production one of which (Caliban) is VERY important. I suppose using Shakespeare to advance the double agenda of nudity and women’s issues is perfectly in line with every other Shakespeare production co-opted to tell a story and deliver a message. More people doing everyday things naked.
Don’t know how it went among the audience, this
reviewer didn’t say. It would be an interesting play to watch how the lines of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays would have stood up with the nudity as a distraction. It would depend on the skill of the actors.
O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't! – Miranda 5.1.203
