I never thought there would ever be a trip report where you would complain about the lack of clothing or coverup! And meeting kindred souls! What a day and I'm sure the fact you missed the jeep road was not a hindrance. I'll have to do a reread when there is time to sit and enjoy it.

Covering shoulders and noses is sometimes necessary in the Arizona sun. It is hard to acquire and keep that tough of a tan, to stay out all day. It would be nice to be able to not lug around so much water, or not wear shoes or not keep tweezers, but one must be prepared if on an extended hike, or into new territory. Just a strip of cloth. It doesn't have to be worn, but otherwise lack of it produces restrictions as described. I'll still go completely without, whenever I can safely, like in the evening, or when I know my specific goals, or when I don't mind curbing my whims to discover new territories. I rarely wear clothing, or even carry it, if I don't have to. That just doesn't make sense and it curbs awareness and sense of liberty.

There will be a later post into this area, backpacking at a later date. There will be a backpacking hike one day, up th ejeep trail. I know where it goes and it would be fun and good exercise to hike all of that way with cover up stashed away. There will also be another couple of posts about where that trail ends, when we have used four wheel drive to get to it. It is incredible there.

I do understand the need to protect shoulders and nose from my time in Florida and my two visits to Arizona. Same goes here with time on the water as the sun's rays are amplified be reflecting off the surface. In anticipation of your next post, I hope it was warm enough by your standards to enjoy those pools!

There is a tendency for a body in motion to do multiply steps in series before one has given thought to them. Rather than just trust that a rock will be stable, or momentum will bring one to a safe step instead of on a cactus or sharp something, there needs to be intervention of the trust.

I know what you mean. Many times I have looked at where I want to go when I am in a creek and did just that. Hittin' the rocks that look good to use but not staying long enough to see which way they move. It's a kind of tip-toe action to cross a creek. One of my favorite spots near here has a lot of very slick boulders and stones where this is necessary.

I have also got better at spotting stable places to step while climbing on the scree or bouldering although it's always a surprise when a seemingly large and stable rock suddenly turns into a bobsled or bowling ball.

Sliding down a slope naked is a kick!
