Climbing waterfalls reminded me of a trip to Jamaica I did almost 30 yrs. ago. My friend I was with took me to Dunns River Falls near Ocho Rios. She walked up the path, she had been there before, and took a few photos while I walked in at the base of the falls on the beach and climbed it all the way up.
Reading your story brought back memories. It is a public place so no nude hiking, climbing or any other activities there. But climbing a water fall that was in full flow was wonderful. The sensations of the water and stone you describe are familiar.
