This isn't a suggestion but a comment.

The site just rolled over to post #10,000.  I guess that would be a milestone of sorts.

This forum seems to be becoming more well known.

We also have over 200 members with only 43 having posted more than 10 times.
These account for more than 97% of the conversation.

Come on folks, there's gotta be something you can contribute!

We are a select band of brothers here.  66% of posts are by Jbee, Duane, myself, Bob and JOhn.  I remember keeping track of TSNS stats where the same was true except. of those that transferred here only Ian Milfmog, mainly, figured large in TSNS whereas he has faded and wained in presence here.
I just hope that we continue to get fresh minds posting and new friends joining us and maybe some OLD FRIENDS rejoining the chats more regularly.

I often wonder who sees our output in addition to ourselves.  The top 5 topics have 326,489 views.  But this is deceptive.  It is my understanding, from doing the odd website project in my consulting practice, that the internet is pervaded by a 'white noise' of 'bots' from organisations good and ill that digitally search the web for their advertising, scamming and other parasitic activities.  Thus most of the views are not humans.

I often wish a few more of our infrequent posters would post more frequently but hey, who am I to dictate others' preferences.

We should simply value the correspondence and fellowship we have.  I do at any rate.  I still enjoy the forum conversations even though I'm a little less frequently visiting these days.

Yea, Nuduke. It is sometimes appears that you are getting the posts at snail mail rates. Well, Thomas Jefferson had correspondence letters that took months to get back and forth...but, don't anyone go there!!!

Its common for a few to make the most posts. The 80/20 rule frequently applies. Its the same on Naturist Corner. It's also the case that sites start slowly and then grow. I don't post as frequently as perhaps I could, but I look at the site most days... and to be honest although retired I'm busier than ever and naturism, secret or not is not my only interest. Having said that this is a lovely site, still being informal and friendly and without heavy moderation. What is important is members treat each other with respect, don't call each out and enjoy posting. That's not to say debate shouldn't take place. Respectable debate is healthy.

The larger the site the more you have to regulate and control. Quantity isn't always everything. Sometimes getting what you thought might be good isn't for the best. This site reminds me of Naturist Corner in its early days, a bit rough around the edges, informal and fun. As it grew it became more organised, still a good site but more tightly controlled due to large numbers and a few "who try it on."

I don't know how select we are and if so, we're self-selected, sometimes self-appointed.

In other nude hiking forums I've belonged to, there was a distinct seasonal variation in the number of posts, which isn't surprising, although this is technically not a nude hiking forum. At least that isn't the name and there is no subsection with that title.

Unless you are the literary and philosophical type heavy with a message, there is a natural limit to what one can post. Even when you move from forum to forum, you only have a certain number of stories to tell and after that, all you can do is comment on other people's stores and comments until you go out and have more adventures, which I am waiting to do now, since there's still snow on the ground. We had snow this week, the first one with enough to shovel all winter long. In the meantime, almost all my nudity has been of the indoor variety and most of that has only been of the half-naked sort at that.

Although it might appear to be JBee’s own section  ::) the Trip Reports sub section is sort of our hiking reports area, though the free-ranging here isn’t necessarily of the hiking kind. I hope to get some new reports in there now the weather’s (hopefully) warming up.

I haven’t been very active lately, so I am glad to be reading Jbee’s reports.
It keeps me inspired. :D

Keep’em coming!

Wise counsel, Davie.  Yes I am sure the stats of posting or contribution are the same for any forum, society or functional group.   I agree too that too big a community loses its character.

I like this forum a lot because we are mostly of an age and liberal outlook that maintains an enjoyable running conversation.  I'm afraid I'm a bit of an old silly and look back with happy nostalgia to my first faltering steps from about 2007 into naturism in nature where I was helped by and looked in on the conversations  of the 20 or so regular posters on The Secret Naturists Society (TSNS) with a sense of discovery and the joyous 'it's not-just-me' feeling.  Because I was learning the SN craft (as we used to term it) and looked in on what others did with a sense of wonder and potential, I guess I was much more absorbed.  I think you were there too, Davie.

We used to have lots more regular reports of  naturist outings and discussions of Secret Naturism technique for hikes and how to avoid discovery.  I remember Hymie's walks before and after work on the building sites with some affection and Mark Yorksnaturem (if I remember right) woodland walks, milfmog's morning dog walks, the SOC hikes, Alf's camping weekends, Dave Balead's bike rides and secreted woodland sunbathing furniture, eyesup's desert wanderings and Larry Tanman's barn/garage adventures.  More latterly JOhnGW's canal trips and Jbee's adventures have been the mainstay of reports with some notable other contributions but as you say, you can only report the same sort of trip so many times and indeed my woodland wanderings are less frequent these days and indeed more recent descriptions have merely repeated stuff I have already contributed.
And indeed, as you rightly aver, there are many threads in one's life and recreation that unavoidably can't be done naked and naturism has to fit duly in to a hopefully pleasantly busy and active life.

But the good news is we continue to chat and digress and return and enjoy each others' correspondence in the positive manner you describe and indeed, the majority of topics start with at least some connection to our common naturist interest.  So long may that continue.

It occurs to me that we haven't thanked Stuart and Karla lately for their hospitality and for rescuing us from possible oblivion when Lookee's site went tits up (incredibly this was 6 years ago, I think!!).  Thank you sincerely Stuart & Karla ('bout time you did another munro, kids! :D )

Having been a contributing member of a few other forums and now this one, I think it is interesting how forums seem to develop personalities of their own. And that is in spite of what is typically an overlap in membership. Even when a given thread starts out on a certain topic under a specific title in two different forums, they still manage to go off in different directions, same as ordinary face to face conversations. I think that's good. Another reason that happens is because the membership isn't exactly the same and maybe not even close. Besides, they may not be happening at the same time anyway. Either way, that's okay. I think the posts, or at least the replies to an original post, should be in a conversational style. This isn't a debating forum, I don't think.

I'm not always interested in every subject when I look through the topics and some that are more geographically-oriented, like posts about hiking in Arizona or California, I may read but generally won't comment on because I live somewhere else. Curiously, there aren't so many about things in the Eastern U.S. that have jumped out at me, although maybe there in there somewhere.
