newTumbl
« on: March 11, 2019, 01:15:40 PM »
I discovered a few days ago that in response to the disappearance of nudity on Tumblr’s sites, a new microblogging network called newTumbl was created.
I jumped at the opportunity to do a blog focused on naked geocaching by taking back my images taken over the past few years. I will complete it over time.

Sigh. It seems to me as if this new service will operate on the plan that non-sexual nudity and sexually explicit images will be treated in the same way. The reason I think that is when I looked at your new site, I got a message "This blog has a rating of X and publishes some content that you are not permitted to view without logging in". Back in Tumblr's early days, I had some respect for it as accepting all kinds of content on the same basis--total freedom, no restrictions on who could place anything or see anything. But then the restrictions started arriving, and of course they didn't do any favors for nudity. And why should they, when naturism is so tiny and the market for erotica is so huge?

What I'm saying is that I won't be satisfied with any site which naturists use, unless nudity is governed by the least restrictive of that site's rules. If they require everyone to log in or prove their identity, then that's fine, because that's equality. But if only some pages require a login (as pornography might, for instance) then I think it's unacceptable for non-sexual nudity to be treated that way. But other people may see it differently; I'm making a personal stand here, not telling anyone else to do the same.

I do have a naturist page of my own, though I'm always going to update it "real soon now". It doesn't cost me anything, and it's available to anyone who can get on the Interrnet.

Edited to say, for a good dose of hilarious well-intentioned nonsense, see Newtumbl's ratings instructions:

Geocaching Nu

I have found that nude photos are not welcome on the Geocaching site.  Nude Geocaching is good.

In the end, this network didn't suit me. Much too sex-oriented. I transferred it to another hosting provider in France. But my texts are always in French and English.

I'm not surprised at all that Newtumblr didn't work out for you. There seems to be an infinite demand for sexual material, whether it reaches the level of pornography or not, and anything that we'd accept as genuine naturist content is just lost in that seething ocean. People complain about Facebook, but I think Facebook is at least partly doing things right: by banning nudity, they're keeping the porn out. We know that there's nudity that isn't porn, but it's a tiny fraction. I can't imagine that any commercial company would consider it worthwhile to sort through the postings containing nudity, just to find the few items that aren't pornographic. Apart from the time involved, the people who do the work would probably demand hardship pay.

I have noticed that "nudist" web sites have very few women posting compared to men nudists.  However, on sites like old Tumblr or now NewTumblrm, Reddit, and many amateur "porn" sites there is a massive and ongoing parade of women posting sexual pictures of themselves.

Old Tumblr used to have lots and lots of naked women in sexual poses.  When Tumblr banned sexual nudity many of the women move to newTumblr or somewhere else.  But they still don't post on this site, or many other "nudist" sites.  On MeWe nudist pages i subscribe to its almost all men posting with only very occasional women.

I really don't know why that is.  I'm sure there is some deep psychological thing going on that is probably not PC to talk about.  I don't know why, but I see what I see, and I see many thousand women posting on "self porn" sites while men post on nudist sites.

Bob, TANGOTI.

I seriously question whether many, or any, of the women on porn sites are really women. Maybe there are a few giving the boys what they want to see, but I wouldn't know. What I have seen on a number of naturist sites is users who grab a picture of a pretty girl from the internet somewhere, and use it for an avatar that establishes them as female. Somehow you never see a "woman" of mature years, only young ones--that tells you something. When I see a new one, I wonder "What kind of a show will this guy be giving us?" There's no point in arguing about individuals though, when nobody can prove anything. But has anyone read the site run by "Sunnyday"? There's a long-running performance for you.

In general I think real women don't see naturist sites as very friendly, and expect to be bombarded with frightening and obscene private messages. It's a very unfortunate underside of naturism online. I hate the idea that anyone feels excluded, but at least when we have an all-male group, we have the expectation that nobody will abuse anyone else.

Now don't make me say "What did you find when you looked it up on Google?"

SunnyDay! Dang! I remember SunnyDAy from when I first got online access. I remember reading it, liking it. It was some sort of a college student growing into being a nudist. It went on that they got married. I lost track about that time. I got suspicious that it was a male, but it was done so well.
So, I went to the website and I see that it is still going. She does yearly updates and there is a new forum that has several contributors. Still kicking! It has been nearly 20 years.

Maybe a female needs to impersonate a guy online, to avoid hassles?
