You should read "The man from the cave," by Colin Fletcher. (Contains no bears).

I have seen bears in the woods (that's where they live) twice but not too closely, fortunately. People sometimes worry me more but not so much in the "way back."

Yes, I've heard that they sh_t in those woods where they live, too. In this case, those piles of black scat in the middle of the trail were probably related to this guy. I suspect that it recognized the trail as a conveyance and marked it as such.

There will be a hair-raising people story soon. The people are more scary and probable to cause me trouble than a black bear that is concerned more with its own business and safety. I've seen them sh_t in the middle of the trail. too. Horrible smells that last for days. No wonder bears...and other creatures...leave when we come by. There goes the neighborhood.

I love being naked camping. Good on you for being out in the woods.
