Yep, a club is a business and sometimes living in a real (really weird) world one must make allowances against the principles a of a more perfect world.
Still, many take a policy based on a wrongly perceived perspective of the "real world' and over do it, or just come out bigoted, or way conservative. They must cater to their membership, who may, or may not have less "naturist" views, fears of having their relationship raided by others, etc. To me it is old school resort policy.
The younger generation people I hang out with generally seem to have less sexual predator behaviors (looking to get laid, meat attitude). I see younger multi-sex groups getting along fine and friendly. It could be issues that older people have and older people are going to these resorts more than anyone else.
