So, you come across some gothic, or punk kid dressed to get a reaction from others, to express themselves. Or, some guy is dressed in garb to intimidate, because he wants to scare off muggers. Or, somebody is walking along the parkway with a bloody knife in hand. Where is the line drawn for a public order, or complaint? Where is the line of intent or the affect, or effect drawn?
So, you walk down the same parkway, butt naked, enjoying the breeze. Are you doing it to make affect, to shock, to express yourself, or is it about individuality, how it makes you feel? Has it nothing to do with other people being around?
You can walk around in any garb, posture any intent, and people just have to get over it. Try a little naturism and it is assumed that there is something sexy going on, and that it has to do with everybody else, that it couldn't just be something that merely feels good, something that could just as easily be done when alone walking on the parkway, something that has inherently nothing to do with anyone else?
You can walk the streets dressed like a giant penis, but your penis can't walk the streets minding its own business. Ain't no justice, ain't even no sense.
You can walk the streets with a gun on your hip, which makes many people nervous, but you have a natural right to protect yourself. You can't walk the streets naked, which also makes a few people nervous, but you don't have that right to walk without fear. I'm all for the Second Amendment, but some of these people (even police) get me a little edgy with arms at ready. I can't imagine feeling that way in the presence of naked people. Naked just never seemed intimidating or threatening to me.
Jus' some thoughts. My sense of common sense.
