What made you decide to reduce the old avoirdupois in the first place, Bob, and how long has it taken you to get from the large and imposing figure you were to the much more slender figure we see today?
Hi John. It took me a year. I lost over 100 lbs. Almost 10 lbs per month.
I echo Jbee - you are looking good on it - if a tad less imposing perhaps!
Many questions accumulate....
Can you share a link to learn about this carnivore diet, please?
My son told me about it. There are support groups on Facebook, MeWe, and some other places. On FB its "World Carnivore Tribe" or on MeWe just "Carnivore Tribe." The pinned to the top posts have a long list of medical and science information links.
Basically we eat only meat and especially fatty meat, cheese, eggs, and other animal fat products. Eat when hungry. Eat until not hungry. Don't count calories. Don't eat plants, sugar or carbs, processed plant oils, or anything vegetable except trivial quantities for spices. Don't count calories. And, don't over think it. The fat is the energy food, and our bodies easily switch to using fat for energy. Then bodies use up stored fat instead of storing more. We end up a fit healthy weight, not skinny, and not unhealthy thick.
I bet it costs a lot - decent meat is very pricey in the UK.
Do you roast a lot? How do you take all this meat? Can you have the occasional sandwich? Doesn't it give you outrageous constipation? Does "meat" include chicken and fish?
Tell us more - at least I am interested.
I can't speak to prices in the UK. Most people send a lot of money buying expensive "junk" food chips, etc. We spend more at the meat isle, but avoid the other 13 isles at our local market. Around here ground beef is about the same price per pound as processed brand name breakfast cereal, like Cheerios. Much better human food.
I also have started buying 1/2 cow from a local farm. It costs about $4 per pound when cut, wrapped, and frozen. Really high quality meat. It fills our freezer and takes my wife and I more than half a year to eat. We also buy chicken, pork, and fish from a local market.
I am feeling rather depressed at present as I too lost a lot of weight between summer 2020 and 2021 by rigorous and laborious calorie counting but with one thing and another, since about July/August, when I slackened off my rigorous and very arduous regime, I have started putting the pounds on again and have regressed back to where I was about in January. Its so difficult to lose a pound and so easy to put 2 back on!
John
The nice thing about the carnivore way of eating is you don't ever have to go hungry. You don't ever have to count calories. A dinner of fatty meat makes a person feel satiated when you've had enough for your body to be healthy. It's been over a year and I haven't gained any back. I don't expect to. Actually that "eat when hungry" often only means once a day for most carnivores. Fat fills you up, and doesn't get rapidly converted to fat and stored like carbs and sugar do. We don't get hungry again only a few hours later, and again, and again like carb eaters do. Anyway I'm sold. I haven't been this healthy in decades. I'm wearing shirts I hadn't been able to wear in 40 years (when its too cold to be naked).
Check out the MeWe group Carnivore Tribe. there is also "100% Carnivore" on both sites.
