Really nice story, Jim
Reminds me of the old days of TSNS where we would regularly share such tales.

Thanks, John!

"TSNS"? Is that The Secret Naturist Society, or something like that? Stretching my brain cells, but I think I know what you're referring to!
Have a blessed NUDE day!

Those who visit De Anza Nudist Resort are likely aware they can hike off the resort's campus and into the high desert. This has been a passion of mine for the years I visited De Anza. I always left the resort with a pack loaded with water, wearing nothing except a hat and good hiking boots. Several times, I met the border patrol. They would often stop and roll down their windows. We'd briefly discuss whether I had seen any illegals and, if I did, where did I see them. They liked any chance meeting with a character like me because they knew  I crossed country and did not stick to the jeep trails.

There were many places where there had been target practice with skeets. One Easter, I was hiking up to the top of a hill. In the distance, I heard the gun pops and bullets whizzing from the upslope. Angry, I got off the high ground and out of the line of fire. I headed east and upslope to find the shooters. I knew the land. I found two twenty-somethings, a man in his fifties and a boy about ten in a dry wish trying to hit cans. Suddenly they were confronted by an angry naked hiker. Not only were they breaking every rule I was taught about hunting and gun use, but they were also in an off-limits place for shooting. It was a wildlife preserve where clothed and non-clothed hikes roamed. I made them pack up and leave.

LOL! I'll bet that they are still talking about the naked hiker. Four armed men got run off by an absolutely unarmed single hiker! Did you at least have a camera to threaten them with?...LOL. picture that!

Back then, I had a Sony cd camera. It was a pain to use. It was very slow. I had the element of surprise on my side. I was also furious. At the same time, I was thinking about other hikers who could have been killed because of reckless behavior. They were spraying bullets downhill in open country. They would travel a long distance before falling out of the air. I refused to leave until they packed up and left. The older man was so concerned about what the grandson was seeing they got their ass out of there.

Good on ya, Dave! I'm a staunch gun advocate, but I'm also a staunch gun SAFETY advocate. I've nearly been shot a couple of times by people that didn't consider what was beyond their targets. One was an honest hunting mistake, the other was a jackass shooting at pieces of wood he'd thrown into the river. His bullets were ricocheting through the limbs of the very tree I was hunting in. He literally had me pinned behind the big tree my deer stand was in. Shouting didn't work, due to the distance across the river. With my scoped rifle, and care to keep him out of the line of fire, I returned effective, on-target fire at his target, making a huge splash of water. He got the message, put away his pistol, and made himself scarce rapidly!

Yes, De Anza is a wonderful place! I just made my first trip there last July, and can't wait to get back there! It's one of the few nudist places where they have truck parking space, which makes things much easier for me. I also left the resort on all of my hikes. I never took any clothing with me, other than a ball cap and a pair of 5-Fingers.
Have a blessed NUDE day!

This is the second part of the story about my first year visiting Black's Beach. It is the second part of three.

Around this time my work shift switched to nights and had a ton of overtime as well. I would get off work sometime between 7 and noon. If I got off before 10 I'd generally drive the half hour to the beach. Thus, including my days off I was there at least 4 days a week. There is another smaller trail down to the beach at the northern end of the parking area known as he goat trail. I always parked there. I had an old bed sheet to lay on and a big beach towel for blanket if needed. I'd set up near the surf and sleep nude for a few hours and generally waking up around 2-3. Sleeping nude on the sand with the sound of the surf was very restful sleep.

When I'd wake up, I'd go for a quick swim to clear my head and then walk the beach for some exercise. The goat trail lands on the beach about half way down the nude beach section. I enjoyed not carrying shorts with me and would walk nude first to the north end of the nude section net free and upon returning pick up my shorts and continue nude to the usual point where people would dress for the clothed beach. I'd almost always walk nude past the first group of clothed bathers and sometimes stay nude most or part of the way and  always dress before reaching the more crowded  and textile area near the access road. It was always nerve racking and exciting at the same time yet without another nude person in front of me leading the way I wouldn't risk going nude into that section. I was very curious and wanted to try staying nude to the area again to see if people would walk by with no big reactions the same way as the first time

One day around in early September, I got off from work around 7:00 and headed straight to the beach. I was nude and asleep before 8:00.   I awoke early from my nap around noon and went down for a swim. The tide had been out pretty low and was coming in. The water was warm and inviting and it was great fun nude body surfing. October always seems to have the warmest water. Especially during a santa ana wind day like this day was. Sunny, windy and warm dry desert air. After enjoying the water, I took off for a walk to the north end and not bothering to dry off with a towel where my stuff was, I just got out and started walking. I walked the surf line letting the warm wind dry me while the waves lapped at my feet and shins. It was a wonderful day and I was just enjoying the sensual wonder of the sun, the wind and the water on bare skin. The waves were getting bigger and breaking closer to shore as I returned south on the beach and the sun was pretty bright and blinding over the ocean at times. As I walked and stared out over the bright ocean and waves I must have lost track of time and space as when I recovered from my reverie I realized I was almost at the textile border marker and I had forgotten to stop by my things and get my shorts to walk on the clothed beach. It was a 10 or 15 minute walk back to get them and I thought I'll just head back to my stuff and skip the walk.

Then the thought and dare hit me as it has many times before. It always starts as a little dare and then grows to something bigger and bigger as each little step is achieved. I thought why not just go a little ways passed the boundary before turning around and get a little more walk in.

The tide was still out a ways from the sun bathers and I was walking along the water. I could see my reflection in the wet sand and there were no shorts in my hand, just me. I was still walking and approaching the boundary and I didn't stop. I kept going. I was almost shaking with nervous excitement and I couldn't stop. I was going to go about 100 yards down to the next group of bathers and then turn around.

As I neared the next group of sunbathers of course the urge to press on and continue was getting more intense. Just a little bit farther. What am I doing? I stopped a moment. A couple of the sun bathers were looking my way it seemed yet most were conversing or reading or doing something other than looking at the ocean. I wanted to head back. Then I saw a couple by themselves up ahead in one of the open sparse areas. They looked like they might be nude and curiosity got to me and that if they were nude, I would not be so alone. They appeared to be deeply tanned. I took an angle toward them and away from the water. It would be a minute or two before I could get close enough to see.

My nervousness abated a bit as I thought I'd be among fellow company. We may even have a chat. The beach rose a bit and the sand dried as I approached. At the top of the rise I was about 20 feet from them as they lay on their stomachs and could now see they were both wearing those leopard skin thongs pulled up between their cheeks and the woman had undone her top. This didn't help and I quickly walked back toward the water.

I was alone again and feeling exposed. I was further from the nude section than I was from the access road. It was still at least a 5 minute walk. I could see people on the beach and in the water. I wanted to turn and go back yet at the same I had a strong urge to press on. I wanted to see it the conditions would be the same as the first time I went there nude yet now I was nude and had nothing to put on if needed. This was nerve racking. In a sense it was better I had no shorts as I couldn't chicken out and get dressed as I had in the past. In the end I could not keep from continuing on, the urge, curiosity and sense of risk was just too strong. I would at least get closer to the crowd yet would probably go no further than the other times.I stayed near the shore nervously edging my way along and not sure what I was going to do.

Then I noticed about 5 people heading in my direction from the upper beach area. They were walking at an angle to hit the water line about 200 feet away and headed straight for me. There was nothing for me to do but keep walking. All the adrenaline and nervousness returned with a rush and even more so when I realized that closing in on me were 5 women all dressed in business attire save the tennis shoes they were wearing. They looked like they were on lunch hour beach walk. They were maybe 20 feet higher up on the beach than me to keep their shoes dry. We were getting closer and I could see they were engaged in conversation and I also noticed they seemed to all be looking at me. Then as we closed distance they angled closer to me just keeping their shoes dry, stopped and one motioned me to come over to them. As I had started my nude trek down the beach I never thought I'd be standing completely nude in front of a group well dressed women yet here I was. It turned out they were looking for the gay section of the beach and did I know where it was? I said there wasn't an official gay section as far as I knew yet maybe the north end of the beach over a mile away might be considered an unofficial gay area. It seemed a bit too far for them today and they thanked me and began returning back from where they came. I got the idea they were looking for someone.

One of the group a rather tall slender blond started to walk away with the group and then came back towards me. She said "I just have to ask..why do you do this? Why do you go around nude? I kind of stumbled and mumbled an explanation about how free and natural it is with the sun and the breeze and how it just feels natural swimming nude in the ocean. I'm six two and was about one ninety at the time. She was tall enough she could have looked me in the eyes yet she was looking at all of me and not in a lascivious way. She was more studying me in her business skirt and coat while the warm breeze blew on both of us if was also a much different experience for both of us and I think she got that. She was thinking about it and I offered to meet her some time to explain more. She took my phone number saying she had a way of remembering numbers and returned to the others and they continued on up the beach. I figured I'd never hear from her again yet maybe I had planted a seed, who knows.

I stayed along the water nearing the edge of the area where I could expect to run into people going back and forth to the water from  their towels. I didn't see at first due to the blinding sun and then I caught sight of a group of swimmers in the surf just ahead of me. They were exiting the water just in front of me and then I saw a couple coming down to the water and before I knew it I was in the access road beach area. Like before I was the only nude person and it was nerve racking and intoxicating at the same time yet all I was doing was walking along the beach nude like I was a mile or so north yet it felt different here. I reached the rock outcropping with the trail that led to other beaches and began walking up the beach. I saw a group of surfers coming down the access road. They were kind of loud and boisterous and for some reason I wanted to steer clear of them so I walked up on the outcropping trail and continued south a bit. The trail was well worn yet narrow in some parts. I was really just trying to avoid the surfers yet as soon as I started the just a little bit farther and just around the bend dare started and before I knew it I was slowly exploring the cliff trail. Pretty soon I could see part of the next beach and the pier in the distance as well as people laying on the beach. I also saw some people approaching a short distance away and decided to head back toward the beach area by the access road.

When I reached the beach there were maybe sixty to seventy people either single or couples and some small groups all sunning clothed in the upper dry sand beach. The surfers were down by the water line watching the waves. I was curious about this section of beach anyway and in a now or never kind of moment struck out through the crowd at an angle that would put me at the water line well north of the surfers. I was the only nude person in the crowd and was still pretty nervous yet soon realized most didn't even see me. If they were laying facing the opposite direction they never knew I walked by them. From those I made eye contact with I got mostly nods or good afternoons. There were probably some disapproving stares yet I didn't notice. Just a wandering jaybird off the nude beach reservation. It was all new and exciting and I felt like I wanted to stay yet needed to get back to my stuff. There was something I wanted to try. This was a Friday and Monday was a holiday.  I'd be back then. It was a nervous hike back to the nude area and I walked up in the dry sand area instead of by the water and passed more sunbathers on the way.

This discussion reminds me of an incident I had a couple of years ago.   I live about 10 miles out of a small town.  We hear neighbors practicing with their guns just about every day.  One neighbor practices with large caliber rifles every morning at 10 AM. Other neighbors practice with other guns.   I like to encourage neighborhood safety.  Unlike most cities, we have a zero crime rate out here. Repeat offenders don't last very long.

One afternoon a couple of years I heard a lot of gunfire, including machine guns, and more than one gun at a time..  It was coming from an adjoining property where the owner got into a messy divorce, and now rents his home as an airbnb.  It's about 1/4 mile away from my home, and all the guns sounded close.  My step daughter (she's grown up and was visiting) had been sitting out in our yard enjoying the afternoon, but said she came in because bullets had passed over her head.

The next morning I walked over there to find out who had been doing all the shooting, and to ask them to be more careful.  It turned out it was a group of deputy Sheriffs. They had rented the house for a weekend, and were shooting at targets placed against a hillside.  In that direction, any rounds going a little higher would be aimed directly toward my house.  I told the guy in charge that my step daughter had reported rounds passing over her head.  He swore they never fired higher than the targets.  He offered to come investigate where the reported high rounds landed, but that could have been anywhere in the next mile of woods.  Some people just aren't very careful about what is behind where they are shooting.  I would have hoped that trigger happy cops could be more careful, but apparently not.

Another time I heard shotguns and looked out my back windows to see about 4 men shooting clays on my land.  Shotguns are always fired upward, but I don't know how far they go.  I put on my best red outfit, wore a holstered .45, and walked over there by the most out of the way route I could manage.  They were also staying in the airbnb rental, and had thought that my land was part of his rental.   I showed them were the property line was and asked them to go back to his place.  I don't mind people walking on my land, but I don't need bits of broken clay and shotgun pellets spread around.

I must comment that guns firing bullets all over the place is something that is not a hazard in the UK. We hear the odd shotgun being fired but the law is pretty stick over the control of firearms.

I appreciate this a cultural difference between us.

When those shots are heard, I have no idea where they are going. I just hear the shots. In the hills there are echoes and there are plenty of places that just can't be seen. It doesn't take a stray shot to ruin my day. Just the sound and uncertainty.

We need universal gun education and government supplemented firing ranges. Their dangerous and powerful.

Keep it coming. I remember lifeguards patroling with quads the last time I was there. This was out the north end of the beach. There were even some hanging out. They had to have come from where you mentioned. Had you run into any previous to this?

Once at Blacks Beach, a hang glider landed on the nude section of the beach. The lifeguard patrol quickly showed up, issuing a fine to the glider. Gliders were only allowed to land on the clothed section of the beach. There were always lookie-loos hanging out watching the nude people. Ignoring them was easy. The joy of body surfing naked was too much fun. Once surfing, a seal was near me.

We hear gun fire every day as my neighbors are practicing.  Mostly pistols. They are careful to watch where their bullets are going.  The guy with the large rifle has a target on the next hill over from his place, about 500 or more yards away.  The target has a few logs buried into a hillside.  Neighborhood rumor has it that he is or was a CIA operative who's professional work involved long range rifle accuracy.  He never talks about it.  He practices every day.

There was a time not too long ago when many public schools had gun and shooting training programs.  In some areas the schools sponsored interscholastic shooting competitions. .That was all abandoned when more recent political agendas took over American schools.  Schools today are mostly a completely boring waste of time. They have eliminated any worthwhile education, and serve primarily as political and social indoctrination day care.  . .

I'm not big on more government.  Most cities have private indoor shooting ranges with available needed training.  In rural areas there is very little need for a designated shooting range.  There is very little if any crime because criminals don't last very long.

I to went to a school where students were allowed to take time off to go hunting. There were also classes on hunting safety. Here in Montana, students get to take time off to hunt. Hunting is a crucial activity. It puts food on the table.  And so, also hunting and gun safety. It is paramount.  But no, you don't go and do target practice anywhere. You mack sure you are shooting into a hill. Not following protocol is dangerous.

As to school format, schools in the US were the training ground for working in industry. That started in the 1900s. Everything was regulated, such as going to the bathroom, length of the day in school, following rules, and not questioning them, all meant creating obedient workers. None of this is new.

My original post was not for or against guns. It was about people being in the wrong place doing a thing that endangered nude and clothed hikers. I was about the power of a naked person to confront those doing wrong.
