And the pool for cooling off?
We stayed camped in a few resorts during our longer trips. We prefer the open air. Often there are cooking facilities and refrigerator. We also like the bathroom facilities which are often more outdoors and preferable in nice weather. It can be an inconvenience to get to the loo (not a American term, is the girls room a "loo-ease?) at times, but then there are usually woods and space late at night, or a pleasant star, or moon sky, barefoot all over in the grass. I actually prefer that, too.
The first this year was out in Oklahoma during a three day holiday. The weather was very nice, lots of people so there were a few extra celebratory activities for us all. Water volleyball is rarely a free range activity. We'll do these on weekends and if it rains get a room. The resort here in Tucson is $160 and up at $250 for the condos, more up scale. It's a fun place to visit, but the people and activities are the same, so I'll pay a tenth of that plus grounds fees in my preferable space out on the road, or a B&B something during rain.
We were out in Oklahoma, a state with weird elements, not knowing where we could camp and tired of driving. There are nice public campgrounds, but there, staying nude can be difficult. At times like that a factory farm is a great alternative.
They had a barrel race in golf-carts (468 acres 5 miles of trails and lakes, so everybody has a golf-cart or a bike) where the driver was blindfolded and the co-pilot is giving directions with a microphone. Hilarious! Dances, live band a talent show with a Rodney Dangerfield wearing only a tie, a redneck hugely stitches comedy skit, etc. All day water volleyball. Barbecue fun.
I've found the rentals at resorts generally a little less expensive than textile places, then add in grounds fees.
Rather than ponying up $60 between us to use facilities here, or join a club that we wouldn't use all the time (it kind of like a health club membership, intentions, but not used), we are out free range, or visiting friends with pools. We have friends that love the resort and are entirely immersed socially there, who get out free range only occasionally. To each his own. For them it is a social club.
Yes, sometimes camping in a club feels like a known safe port in a storm, when looking for a a place to stay.
Skinny dipping for kicks at 81...cool! DF has a female relative that drives a Harley around at 78. Makes me feel better about receiving an old age certificate, when that time comes.
