There is the time for migration. Sometime in the dead of Winter, the snow birds head south. The streets of Tucson are loaded down with them, as they alight on this solar Mecca, for the winter.
Everywhere we see people walking around in shorts and tee shirts, like it is normal. The streets get clogged with cars with out of state plates, while Arizonans wander around bundled up in anachronistic contributions to the Goodwill stores, because the coats and sweaters just never wear out and nobody knows what is out, or in fashion.
The climate change and La Nina have had the weather out of whack for three years, now. It is supposed to traditionally start to warm up in February, but the last two years winter was mild and then came in Feb.! This year, we have been getting cold/wet cold/wet with intermittent wonderful. No telling what to expect at this rate.
I was wrapped up in sweat pants, a sweat shirt AND a t-shirt, WITH shoes yesterday working on a new compost bin! I noticed that I didn't have to be as concerned with splinters and abrasions and although a bit stuffy, I was pretty warm. New Years Day has 90% chance of rain! What's with that? A couple of days ago, I lay down on a warm plastic recliner chair and baked in perfection. Hopefully, the good stuff will pop up on our hotsprings weekend...
Shouldn't have to wait a week for the first nude hike of the year. MAybe, I should try one of those polar bear style walks to acclimate?....
