El Fonoll
« on: July 31, 2024, 01:25:54 AM »
DF showed me an article about this place that found her, El Fonoll in the Catalon Mountains in Spain. Anybody know of this place?

It is an old medieval village that has been rehabed and turned into a naturist community and resort. You can stay there, have a garden plot, walk trails on 500 acres, participate, vacation, whatever, but its policy is mandatory nudity, weather permitting. "Sure, stop on in, but get those clothes off first and no cameras."

The philosophy is very organic, natural and ecological, back in a valley amongst farms. Too good to be true? What do you know?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Fonoll

"El Fonoll. the medieval village in Spain where clothes are banned"

https://english.elpais.com/lifestyle/2024-07-27/el-fonoll-the-medieval-village-in-spain-where-clothes-are-banned.html

Just the kind of cage that I might stand to be stuck in...nope. No nudity law, the Right to bare arms all over and another nude beach city exist in Spain. The political environment could create a flood of expats, depending on the election result. It would end nudity and things like my website...seriously folks.

Had a look at the El Fonoll info and website.  Interesting but looks rather basic!  A dream of naturist existence made real, however.
I've never studied European nudist resorts because it is inevitable that my dear wife wouldn't go to any but I have to say, this one looks quite isolated and as mentioned, a bit basic.  I must have a look elsewhere and compare!

Jbee, your last 2 sentences in previous post were a bit confusing.  Could you rephrase and clarify, please.  Are you saying that there are those in the US that would (will?) ban naturism and nude lifestyle expression e.g. on the web?  Surely there are more important issues to resolve than a bit of naturism, whichever party gets in!

Nuduke: There is a 900 page plus document called Project 2025. Much of it is created by several members of Trumps former cabinet and advisory post. It is the work of a think-tank, Heritage Foundation" that has been notorious for decades, now, and started and mostly funded by a couple billionaires. Most of the result has made these rich richer over the years. Several right wing organizations put it together. Just for starters, it calls for firing of tens of thousands of career experts that run key government departments, and has a list of "yes sir" replacement bureaucrats generally with less expertise, but willing to carry out any whim of the president. Also, the utter annihilation of several important organizations, such as FBI and Department of Education, EPA, etc. The department of Justice would no longer be independent, but a tool of prosecution and protection of the President. Along with the recent Supreme court decisions, essentially making the President a kings powers.

It is heavily influenced by the Christian Right, a sort of American Taliban. The document calls for and gives process to eliminate abortion, early abortion pills, and all the way to contraception. It plans to eliminate pornography. The definition of porn will include simple nudity as it was in the 1950's. So goes my website, which has already been set in a section of porn on the web. Bodies are considered obscene. The document is online. I've read all of this there, except the definition of porn, which I'm certain is as I say that they mean. The Trump Vice President pick has ties to it, wrote in part of it.

Trump is documented as lying about it. He said that he doesn't know anything about it, but there are earlier interviews where he says the opposite and these are his former employees. He is backtracking because he knows how radical it is (I saw video, him saying that parts of it are radical).

It is a nightmare scenario. People are mobilizing. I'm mobilizing. It would radically alter the entire structure of the government and install Trump as an essential dictator. It has gone way past political banter in this country. This is more than an election this year. This post is about a power grab and the effect on the bodily freedom, intellectual freedom and spiritual freedom, as far as nudity goes. If you are interested in the larger dangers and the effect on Europe, contact me outside of this forum. It is stunning, but that is other political discussion, that we are not here for and is not supposed to be here.

That Spanish town sounds like a nice place for nudists to live.   However their web site want's subscriptions and control of my PC so I can't view what they have to say.

We're seeing more partisan political posturing on this site.  Let's not go there.

Ok, Bob, good point.  I'm not going there.... other than to express horror at what seems to be bubbling under the American paradigm.  Whilst Trump as President fills most of the people I know in the UK with horror, that seems to be just the tip of a very icy iceberg if he gets in again.

What we see in "news" from the UK includes a lot of riots and protests about immigration and crimes by immigrants.   Mass stabbing of children in Southport, etc. Icebergs are a partisan topic on both sides of the pond.  But off topic here.

There is a perception of the staid reasonable Englishman and the unarmed Bobby here. The poor,, the skinheads, the rockers football fanatics and the other wilder subcultures over there are often forgotten. When a group gets rowdy in that context, it is news worthy here. No matter what happens, it seems to be just isolated incidents.

Here with 350 million diverse people on a vast continent, violence is actually less than the perception may suggest. News media exploits this to sell papers giving people the idea that danger is just outside their front door. Fake fear. However the term "icebergs" should be included in course. I hadn't heard that term before. I like that.

Could a naked man in the forest actually be a symptom of an iceberg of social injustice under the surface?

"An iceberg of social injustice"  - What a great phrase.  I'll remember that and use it somewhere else when having erudite persiflage in intelligent company!
Naturism isn't so much the victim of social injustice but more of the hegemony of textile 'normality', I suggest, which is very strong and so makes people marginalise naturists because society imposes this 'norm' to be dressed all the time.

I like having a wide vocabulary!
Don't you have a Funk & Wagnalls?
Persiflage: noun, formal, : light and slightly contemptuous banter
:D

I love being educated 😆.
My favourite radio presenter, now retired unfortunately, had me picking up the dictionary during every program.
Thanks everyone.
Norman.

Hi Norman!

John
Paul Barnes on local radio from Norwich for 20 years or so, playing popular music and jazz from the 1920s up to the 50s or so on a programme called Gold for Grownups.
Recently interviewed by just retired jazz drummer John Petters and being replayed for a whole 5 hours tomorrow (Monday bank holiday in England) from 1pm to 6pm BST on internet radio Chilli Jazz.  I heard the first 5 episodes over the last few weeks.
Unfortunately I won't be able to listen again as I'll be out with some factory farmed naturists at Blackthorns Sun Club.
Norman.
