Also, is there a rule of thumb size for pictures? Ahha! The info is below! "Now where has the picture gone?," I wonder.

Tinypic should give you a list of links, one of which (the second one if memory serves) is inside tags so it looks like this - [ i m g ] http://image url goes here [ / i m g ] . Just copy and paste that into the text of your post and it'll display the photo (remove spaces to get it to work).

I thought I did the same thing in my latest post but for some reason the pictures in the post are huge! Anyway I think I'm getting the hang of it and "Thank you" to Stuart for the guidance. I may have to dig in the archives on my old computer!

The problem with attaching images is that they are stored on FRN's servers and overtime they will fill up.  This can happen especially quickly if people don't reduce them in size. That will then require work in checking what files are uploaded and making us liable for anything illegal. And over time we'll need more and more storage space which will cost more money every month. It's more sustainable to tell members to host their own pictures on a free site and to provide links here.

Thanks Karla.  I use Flickr but there are others.  Flickr saves my photos and provided formatted link text.  They let me select what size I want to share, so I usually choose the one that is "medieum" or about 500 pixels.  I copy and past the link text here.  Then I delete all the Filckr text outside of the {img}xxxxxx{/img} tags.  That other stuff is the Flickr advertising.  Lastly I highlight the whole link and hit the "Center" format button which centers the image on this page.  Its not hard.

I'm glad you pointed out the server issue Karla. As you have noticed computers are still a foreign object to me in many ways. If it would help should I delete the posts with the oversize pictures or can you delete them from your server? Anything to help keep things here up and running I will try to accomplish.

At the SNS site, I always uploaded my pictures to the site. It was easy and all I did was scale them down to a manageable size and attach them.

I have seen a couple of sites suggested here, TinyPic and Flickr. I went to the sites and was reading their rules for pictures and was wondering how others here deal with the prohibition of "offensive material".

The language used in the use agreement is somewhat vague about what is offensive. If anyone has tips about this I would appreciate it. Some said 'explicit' others said 'nudity' was not allowed. I am always careful when it comes to this, so maybe I'm being over cautious.

Anyway, before I invest a lot of effort in learning a new online tech I was curious if others had a similar issue and how they dealt with it.

I think Bob and Ian have used Flickr for a while and they seem to be ok with that site. Stuart suggested TinyPic, but their language seemed pretty firm and I attempted to do a search for "naturist", "naked" and "nude" there and got one picture and a warning that some had been removed.

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.

There are quite a few people who post nudist photos on Flickr.  I've never had any problems.   And I put them as "private" so photos of myself only go to real nudist forums.

Maybe I'll so the same with TinyPic. Compare the two.

If you have a NAS you can also use that, almost unlimited diskspace, easy to manage and you are in control...
I also use this for my website.
