There, there, Jbee  :-\
Dry your tears and forge onwards.   :-[ FRN Ho!  ;)

Standby for load of cliches:-

Every now and again I write something, particularly in referring to remembered threads from TSNS, and a little wave of tristesse splashes on the shores of my soul, for all those years of conversation and related experience, beautiful photos (art!) and shared interest are gone for ever.  We came here on the stored-up battery power of our forum friendship and are probably still running on it now.  But it certainly has stimulated new and renewed conversation and hopefully the passage of time and the flow of offered text will continue to be cohesive for us, recharge our power pack, and help us to realise that the platform doesn't matter and that as long as we can find each other in cyberspace, our sense of loss will get less.

Another refugee signing in ... tanman HERE! (see raised hand)

Thanks Ian, John, and Duane for contacting me and letting me know TSNS gang is here now.  And thanks Karla and Stuart for hosting us.

I will refrain from any rant involving "adult" content and move on to the sorrow that has over taken me at the loss of the vast treasure trove of naturist information, pictures and stories.

These repeated losses of content are killing me and my desire to contribute anything of value ... it just makes me feel so sad for the loss of value of "the vast treasure trove of naturist information, pictures and stories," and especially the CRAFT of the Secret Naturist!  It feels like a computer crash where you loose all your digital music and pictures, when your house is ransacked for valuables, or when your home and memorabilia burn to the ground ... just terrible loss ...

Nudist vs Naturist?  Im a nakedist ... I have to/need to be naked ALL the time, regardless of where I am or what I'm doing ... if I can do it naked, it will be done!  Everything worth doing, is worth doing naked!  Kayaker likes to be naked when possible and considers me obsessed, but, I just force what's possible using the CRAFT.  It may appear to be obsession, but it's not, rather fulfillment of NEED.

Glad to have found a new home here in the Free Range.

Have fun, naked!

I can see the perception of myself as obsessed, BUT is it that way, or is it that I am passionate, living is better nude, and clothing is the obsession that makes no sane sense. I also know that if I am determined to be naked in spite of the hurdles that I am much more apt to find myself happily naked more often and very craftily secure in that. My range of activity when nude is slowly expanding
Obsession to me denotes something kinda whacky. Textilemania, gymnophobia, is the whacky thing. It was 101F out there today! Tonight, it feels fabulous. Who's goofy?

It is good to read your admirable spirit here again, Larry. It makes me feel a comfort and an inspiration by your fellowship and determination.

Take heart, prodigal. Return to the fold. What happened to positive thinking and PMA?

That the old times and places have passed on is secondary. Your tristesse, Larry, I would guess, as mine, is about the loss of that body of interaction that represents our fellowship as an anchor to that state and a place to which the prodigal could always return.

I would wager that your recent years of silence were motivated by changed priorities rather than a decline and demise of that generous fellowship and enthusiasm for cohesive communication that was so frequently expressed in your posts.  But the loss of TSNS brings very much to the front of mind that a website is not The Grand Canyon, The Parthenon or The Pyramids - a physical structure present for an eternity.  A mere delayed subscription renewal, a bigoted hosting company or a minor loss of data ...and pouffe!...TSNS is gone! Yet on all occasions, we have kept the flame of our interaction burning and recovered it eventually.  Call it what you like - SN, FRN, TSNS or whatever, the loss of our previous vessel shows that what is important is not the thing itself.  What has proved to be its life-force is the fellowship it contains and that is as virtual as the data that contained it.

So I have moved on.  The priority is that the conversation continues, the conversation evolves and changes and therefore progresses and that there are like minded people to carry our nomadic little SN fire pot across time, no matter who they be or who their companions happen to be at the time.

Would there have been the Parable of the prodigal son if the family had moved house whilst he was away?  If we are anything to go by, the answer would be yes.  The family would have found a way to redirect him and so with us.  Wherever we hang our cloak and camel goad and pitch our behouin camp is home for that sojourn*.  I would rather be in a ramshackle shed with my good friends than standing alone in the empty Great Pyramid of Cheops with only the historical, hieroglyphic reminders that there were once people and society there.

*Correction of metaphor to be consistent with previous:
'Whatever barque we sail in and whatever ports we water at is our home haven until we set sail again'

So nice to hear from you Larry.

I was at a friend's brewery grand opening the other night (just threw that in to get attention ;D) . . .

. . . and you didn't give us a heads up!  ;)

. . . and assured me that TSNS would be there!

Maybe Lookee has a copy of the periodic backups he made and could make them available. Who knows?

Heeyyy, Larry! Long time, no hear! Glad you're back.

I can see an benefit, here. I am generally aware of the nature of what I posted on the other site, but now have the advantage of a distance in time perspective. Old experiences can be related anew with a different view.

Maybe Lookee has a copy of the periodic backups he made and could make them available. Who knows?

As I recall it, the reason for the big gap in posts that resulted from the great crash of 2011 was that Lookie had been unable to get a successful backup for a couple of years so had to restore the last complete one he had. Sadly, I do not recall him ever saying that he had managed to get the backup system working properly.

Have fun (and look forward to great new conversations instead of looking behind us),

Ian.

Nice to see so many from the old site. Many thanks to our new hosts!
I feel my best when naked in the world, especially in wide, open spaces, wherever and whenever possible.

I back up the forum every day or so by downloading it onto one of two different hard disks (depends if I am in Windows or Linux when I do it).

When I used to run a really busy forum I used to do it twice a day.

When TSNS shut down abruptly, I still had most of the stories that I had published there in a folder on my computer. Not trusting anyone but myself, I set up the FreeRangeNaturist.org. The idea was to polish up those old stories and add some new, as things went along. I expected to run dry in a coupe of years. I just wished the website its third birthday! There is plenty more for a while. I confided the plans for the site, and added a few previously unpublished pics.

Thank-you for encouragement.

We met a a few of people, two in a jaccuzzi and one on the trail with his young son this weekend, that recognized us. They are enjoying the website and they are encouraged to get out in a free range fashion. We met with two others that enjoy the site and want to try a first naked hike. It is good to see that there is a reciprocation resulting in more free range activities.

You are doing excellent work there, JBG. That's how we make naturism look enjoyable, and nothing anyone should object to.

I just want to add my thanks and appreciation for your efforts. Your contributions have been a bright spot for me in what has been a down year for any free range adventures. Keep up the excellent work.
