Another refugee here :(

Actually, I registered here a while ago but had completely forgotten that I had. it took a few moments to remember my password, but I'm in now and all looks good. It's great to see some familiar names here.

I guess I now have no excuse for not finishing off my notes about my recent trip to Menorca. Maybe I'll find some time this weekend to write up the last couple of days.

Have fun,

Ian.

PS I'll fish out the previous parts and edit them too so that it is all in context here. Give me a couple of days.

Hey, Ian!

Good to see you found where we landed.

If you could, send the word around in the UK, that we are here for the near future, pending any info from Paul about the SNS situation.

I don't have any emails of the folks in the UK. I think John (nuduke) knows we are here, but not certain. Most of the others I haven't seen on the Yahoo! site.

We were getting a little annoyed with that site as no one seems to have any moderator privileges. You wouldn't happen to know who opened that site? We couldn't remember who did.

Glad to see you're here.

I'll be up on Mt. Lemmon with a group in a textile campground in the rain plotting ways to get naked in the forest in spite of it all, this weekend. Unless I get brilliant, your shinning beacon of SN flare will be even more welcome to my frustrated pieces of diminished freedom. I have been thinking about this. Remember, when you left off, there was a cliffhanger lingering....

I'll ping everyone for whom I have an address (about a dozen, some of whom have not been active at TSNS for a while), so long as Carla and Stuart don't mind.

I believe that the Yahoo! Group is owned by Lookie, so if he is unable to look after the main websites (he had several) I doubt he will do much about the Yahoo! Group.

Hmmm... Don't over build this one JB. Not so much a cliff hanger as a small step to negotiate :)

Have fun,

Ian.

Thanks Stuart,

I wanted to be sure you guys were OK with it before trying to inundate you with new members (not that I expect a huge number of new folks to sign up).

Have fun,

Ian.

Bad news !!

I got a message from Lookee:

Sorry for the late reply, but I've got bad news. The hosting company changed hands and the new company has a new terms of service policy. The site was shut down and account canceled due to the "adult" content which violates the [new] terms of service.  We were given 14 days notice, but it was to an email account I usually get one email a year on [in February], so I hadn't checked it in a while. So, in short, the SNS site is irretrievably gone. :(

Ohh man! That is too bad.

No way to use a backup to get a new site up and running?

New boss man just issued an ultimatum and it's gone.

All those great posts and pictures vanished into the ether.

Well, we have this site now at least, thanks to Stuart and Karla.

Stunned... wha...what do we do from here on out?  :'(Karla and Stuart, as our history has gone, we would probably generally pretty much take over this site. Can you put up with that, or should we think of an alternative? This format isn't that much different from TSNS (Who owns the TSNS domain name anyway?). You have been helpful and inviting. Could you deal with a long term relationship with over 300 posts each month (old TSNS stats)? :-*

Gack, I need to let this settle in....

Where's Nuduke? I got promoted from Newbie already!

GAck, gack. The finality settles in, the denial is passing, the death and loss is now real.  :'(

So much knowledge, all gone. The fascist have burned all of our books!

Adult content!?!

I have some of my banter and rant. I have most of my old trip reports....

I wonder if the NSA would let go of the site content, as a backup copy? I could sue them for the information.... ;D

See ya'll in a few days. I'm going up the mountain and get over this...as naked as I can.

Thank you for the update, Paul. Sad news regarding the old forum, but at least Lookie is OK; I was fearing the worst on that count. Please pass my regards and best wishes on to him if you are in contact.

I don't know how old JB's 300 posts a month figure is, I suspect in the past year or two it has been less than a third of that as a number of regulars have had other things on their minds, Alf, Larry, Pete K and Running Bear (or was he Nova and a bunch of numbers at TSNS?) all come to mind. (It is good to see a note from Pete here, even if he tells us he has less time these days).

Have fun,

Ian.

That link says less than 300 page views per month. Hmmm... activity must have been even lower lately than I realised.

Have fun,

Ian.

PS JB, are you up early or still up very late :)
