Naked At Home -- Guests and Visitors.

About 8 years or so ago the Post Office mail lady had a package too large for my mail box so she brought it to my house. I live in a rural area with mail boxes on posts beside the road. Usually mail persons deliver mail from the window of their cars along the road. This package was too large for the box so she drove up the driveway and brought it to my house. My house is about 600 feet from the road up a driveway. I was out in the yard naked, mowing or something, and took the package from her when she arrived. She didn't comment on my lack of clothes, but after that she never brought any packages to the house. She always just left a yellow note saying to come to the Post Office to pick up a package. That was about 8 years ago.

Times change and so do employees. The former mail lady moved on and they have a new mail delivery driver on our route. Yesterday we were having record heat for early June, 96 degrees. I was lounging around the house naked enjoying the warmth. The new mail lady had a package to delivery that was too large for the mail box so she brought it up to my house and honked her horn. I got up from the TV and went out the front door to see who was honking their horn.

The new mail lady was out of her car standing next to my front door. She's supposed to scan each package when she delivers it so she had my large package in one hand and a scanner in the other. I was barefoot and naked. She looked up from her scanning when I came out the door and took the package. She said she needed to scan it, so I stood there holding the package while she tried twice to scan it. I think she was looking elsewhere.

I thanked her for delivering the package and then she got back in her car and drove away. It felt good to be seen up close by a nice female stranger. I'm sure I get seen occasionally while naked by the road or somewhere else but not up close within arm length. Being seen while naked is always enjoyable.

Now I'm wondering if she will bring the next package up to my house or will she start leaving yellow notes in the box like the last mail lady. We will have to wait until I buy something else on-line.

An hour later the UPS driver came to the house with another of my on-line purchases. I went out naked to meet him too but he's a guy so I'm not as concerned. UPS always comes to the house. I'm sure they see lots of naked people while going to people's houses unexpected.

If she talks to her supervisor about it, the bureaucrat will have her leaving notes. She did honk and give warning of her presence.
I enjoy the liberation and nature of seeing and being seeing nude by others and social nudity. When a stranger would be seeing me, I often am apprehensive about the others reaction. It has to do with the perceived norm of the situation.

It is good to occasionally be socially nude, to shake off the inhibitions and be more comfortable, less excited or nervous to be in those situations. I spend an afternoon or a few minutes at a place with others and strangers nude and the novelty of social nudity wears off quickly. If I enjoy being seen, I may come across as creepy to a stranger, if they sense that. A matter of fact attitude, or open dialog is better, I suppose, like for openers, “Hi, I hope that you aren’t one of those that has a problem with people without clothing?”

I was taking in the washing when somebody cam round to the back door wanting directions to a nearby house.
He simply said "Oh!" before calmly asking me where number 103 was (only a minority of houses on this road is numbered).
Apart from the exclamation when he first saw me a perfectly normal conversation.

Along with that is a phone application that alerts members in our area to any suspicious activity. So it didn't take long for an alert of people going door to door which turned out to be members of a church group. Being a small town and knowing they were strangers I planned to answer the door naked. To be honest there is an index card thumbtacked above the doorbell stating "Nudists live here, if your not ashamed of the human body ring the bell". Needless to say, they came on the porch, one read the sign out loud and they left!

Oops moment maybe? Remember when I put out the index card for the missionaries the other day? Well, I forgot to remove it and the doorbell rang. To keep peace in the household I slipped on the running kilt before answering. The UPS guy looked and said, "Your dressed?". I answered not usually and he pointed to the card and said 'Nice to have a warning". So I asked "Does it happen often?" to which he replied "More often than you think." So the following discussion gave me hope that there are enough home nudists that could become free range naturists! At least there are a number of people who lounge around or do housework nude.

Now, that's some good implication! At home nudity gives us a number of supporters of at home nudity. There is legitimacy to what you do in your castle. There was an article mentioned at TSNS about New York city dwellers, and how many had seen their neighbors naked on occasion, by chance. Even my shy next door neighbor is nude with her new boyfriend, and that's a big change. I worked at a resort for a while, and greetings with towels wrapped around were a frequent, although not a majority occurrence, according to sources who made deliveries.

Yep, it is a short step to the occasional jaunt out into the private backyard.

Everybody is a naturist, they just don't know it yet.

I had two encounters at my doorstep this week, which is very unusual. One was a lost real-estate agent looking for help instead of a pistol in his face, finding a lot for sale. I wrapped my wrap around miniskirt thing and asked through the door what he wanted. Not being a process server, I opened it. I wandered the property with him to show him boundaries. As he thanked me he kept looking at my little wrap.

Then a Fed-Ex guy dropped off a package to the wrong address for the 9th time. I grabbed the wrap, which was just sitting there next to me and chased after him out into the drive, to complain and get information to make it formal (5 out of 6 of my packages when to the wrong address in a year and a half, UPS 100%correct; Two delivered to me this month and two to another neighbor for the people up on the hill. Time to get formal for negligence). Not formally dressed.

I was legal and they both could figure out that I wasn't wearing the wrap continuously.

Bob posted an article a while back on the olde syte about naked New Yorkers at home and visible to the neighbors through the windows. As I recall there wasn't too much of a hue and cry about it.

I remember the article about NYC dwellers and I'm sure that without A/C in the city many walk around nude to stay cool! Hopefully, it is the fact that a large number of people would rather be comfortably nude in their own place. There have been a few conversations over the past few years with people who have said they enjoy nude time at home. If the truth be known I would say there are a lot more than we even suspect. Like Jbee said, "it's a short step" and how many steps would it take to get them out of the backyard to a free range situation? I think there is a real fear among the powers that be, religious leaders and zealots that nudity would ruin their power and control. Too bad we couldn't get say 10% of beaches and recreation lands set aside for nude recreation. I wonder if the demand would be so great that government would have to expand that to say 40% or more? And if that were to happen I wonder where the pushback would come from churches or organized nudist resorts?

You just brought back to mind my experiences when I lived, several places in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. I can remember that big beach area west of that grand park and the city. It was always sparsely populated, yet right amongst one of the largest most dense population centers in the country. All of the beaches were sparsely populated. I'm sure that windy weather plays a part. But, on the north end of that beach toward the Golden Gate bridge, where many nudes would congregate, there would be a bubble of people, some clothed, some not.

Down the coast, the very small beach and dangerous to climb down to "Devil's slide" would be packed with nudes. San Gregorio (I think that was the name) would have a population of male guys, most were obviously gay. Not very many people, but more than any place else. It was a tad remote. Even Stintson Beach, north, wasn't a particularly busy place. The obvious was that nudes, not swimsuits get much more use of the beaches all over that coast. On colder days, and not so cold, There were many people bundled up in clothes to keep warm. They may have been nudes staying warm for all I know.

This is was a different situation than southern California's crowded beaches. However, Black's beach gets much more use than the adjacent swimsuit beach. Real-estate dealers have a large impact on beach use. A nude beach might limit sales, impact value and property tax revenue...might not, I dunno.

An issue and concern is that politicians and organized religion leaders might use the nude population to get notoriety and increase of power. I think that these people that you mention do get power from an ill-conceived fantasy of a social norm, which they are supposed to be the protectors. The reality of existing and changing social trends make it look like instability, but this is actually just the stripping away of that fantasy. We are diverse, non-uniform when one looks past the superficial trappings, it ain't Disneyland, or Polly Anna's (Hailey Mills) Victorian town.

My adult niece had been staying with me recently and had several of her friends over for the evening. The conversation came around to accepting others and in the course of making a point,  I disclosed that I was a naturist. My niece already knew. One of her friends defended me in the subsequent interchange of ideas. That friend stopped by a few days later to interview my niece for her PBS radio show. Since I knew she was naurist friendly, I didn't bother to dress when she arrived. We chatted briefly before I excused myself to let them get on with the interview. Last night my niece told me that I had inspired a convert. That she told her husband, who was also part of the initial gathering, about the interview visit and how naturally I was in the second encounter. She and her husband now are  nude at home every opportunity.   There is hope after all.

What an uplifting story, Safebare.
I guess it was a risk when the friend came to visit that she might have been less emancipated when confronted by the reality of naturism than just the principle in discussion.  But the happy consequences of this instance are to be desired by us all i.e. helping liberate a person from the shackles of adhering to conventional textilism.
She was obviously already a naturist inside, awaiting the trigger/permission to 'come out'.

I can't help but to be struck by the contradiction of being nude at home with advertising  underwear.   Even if they call it "nude underwear" its not nude.   He also encourages a room full of style shoes.
