I've been having problems when I make a word doc. and try to paste it in. I just have to write the whole thing out in the box here, but there is no way to "save" while/whilst in process.

If you save your word.doc as a word.txt document it should paste in easily.

Simply write "txt", replacing "doc"! That sounds so easy! Thank-you, I'll give it a try. I'm still using an older version of windows and thought that it might be incompatibility, aka planned obsolescence.

I use Open Office instead of Word.    OpenOffice is free and downloadable.  It has all the same stuff as WORD, and MS OFFICE, but you don't have to pay MS.  It can open and edit .doc format too.

If it is compatible with Wordpress, I may be making an adjustment. The pricing is usury and monopolistic. Gates started off as a pirate, stealing ideas and researched discarded equipment and is apparently still a pirate.

I'm not a big user of Wordpress, but I occasionally make comments on one of their contributor accounts.   I'm pretty sure that Open Office is fully compatible.   I agree with you about the high price of MS Office.  That's why I've been using Open Office for 20 years.  It works, and it has just about all the features of MS Office.  Best part it's free to download and use.

I used Open Office for years, then it started to get picky about which documents it would open, particularly .docx. Then I was directed by a friend to its successor, Libre Office, which solved the problem.

Fellsnude, I believe Libre Office is the current guise of Open Office.  And there's all sorts of other Libre's - I have Libre Cad for drawings although it's blessed hard to use.  I just use it for opening Autocad files occasionally.

As to pasting, Jbee, I'm finding that the forum has changed or got behind.  I can't paste text off the web any more and indeed I think I tried pasting off Word and it didn't work.  Nowadays I get this instead of the proper icons and not all the buttons work - the emoticon buttons don't insert anything for instance

I frequently encounter spontaneous changes in formatting of text, particularly size and particularly if I insert a line break and then reverse that with a backspace, this happens: [size=78%]and I have to go back and press remove formatting.[/size]

I'm not sure why this should be - has the forum lost compatibitlity with Windows 11 perhaps?  Well, underline, bold, color and italic still work!

And the picture of the corrupted button icons that I pasted in the last post just didn't materialize when posted and what I got on my screen was the bb code for the font change I described rather than the font change itself!
Here is another try to illustrate it:
[size=78%]and I have to go back and press remove formatting.[/size]
Nope, didn't work on preview so presumably not either on your screens.
[/size]This line I have tried actively to change
